Pelosi’s premature rejection is a hypocritical renunciation of support for policies that Democrats once supported and – in some cases – still pay lip service to today.
Indeed, just five years ago, 54 Senate Democrats voted to double a portion of a southern barrier with Mexico, end chain migration, end the diversity visa lottery, and spend $40 billion on border security (almost eight times what the president is asking for now!).
So what changed?
The person sitting in the Oval Office changed. Democrats now reject the very proposals they once voted for when President Obama sat in the same office.

DACA kids already had "temporary" protection as long as they followed the rules of their deal -
Trump took it all away for absolutely no good reason and because he is a white supremacist -
Now - trump wants to give the dreamers the "temporary" protection they already had before this clown stole the presidency -
Fuck this criminal traitor.
Pelosi is miles ahead of this traitor scumbag turncoat.
pathway to citizenship for Dreamers would have been a serious offer... kicking the can down the road for an extra 2-3 years is a non-starter for Dems.
I think Dreamers might just be better off with no deal and the very likely possibility we get a new president in two years or sooner. I think Pence in a uniting mood might be more receptive to it. You've seen how flexible Mike is on wall funding... was asking half of what Trump wanted from the start.

It's not an unreasonable offer, tbh, what's unreasonable is to hold the government hostage over it.
He knows declaring an emergency is the only way he's gonna get that wall/fence, he's just tilting the table so when he rescinds the offer and goes campaigning, he can tell Dreamers the dems screwed them over, and he still got his wall.
The biggest problem with that political play is that: 1) Republicans in general couldn't give two shit about dreamers, 2) that's not about to change anytime soon, especially with his base and 3) if he loses re-election, dreamers very likely get a better deal anyways.
He got desperate once he lost the mid-terms and control of Congress, and he overplayed his hand. This is probably the best Mitch could come up with to try to help him save face, but it's not going anywhere, IMO.

The only fallout Mitch cares about is people getting fed up because they can't travel, get their tax refunds, etc. This is where this is heading if the shutdown extends for too long, and he knows it. He can only quarterback his senators for so long, until pressure mounts, and it's going to be on him.
He has bills from the House to fund the government he can put to a vote right now, this is why the Dems have nothing to lose. POTUS really overplayed his hand thinking the shutdown gave him leverage, and he completely misread the situation.

We see it here in California where our scumbag Demo politicans flat out state that someone needs to pick the fruit and tend to the farms and the Repubs want them to be their towel and cabana boys and maids at their exotic resorts.
IF Americans overall cared about the "lowering of wages", they'd be honest with themselves and just admit there are Americans, lots of Americans that are not above doing this work for those wages. Our entitlement society has a real bad case of "keeping up with the Joneses" and think everyone who lives in this country should be entitled to a higher quality of life they aren't qualified to and they would insist that more "real life" skills classes be made available to them in public school.
More economics, tradesman courses (basically anything that an ITT tech would offer for exorbitant tuitions to kids not accepted to traditional colleges or looking to be a tradesman or IT tech) and entrepreneurial courses should all be part of high school. Simple and the easiest way to send more productive and qualified people into the adult world.
Instead we send out severely under prepared idiots into the real world with zero real world preparation who expect an instant middle class or better living despite not having skills, or the proper expectations.
It starts with our society producing over entitled citizens first and having to be real and accept certain realities they aren't willing to accept.

I saw this youtube video with machines that pick blueberries, lemons and strawberries and if these machines are any indication, soon there won't be a need for anyone to pick fruit - just someone to drive the machines over the fruit trees. They were nothing short of miraculous - perfect blueberries ready to be packaged. The strawberries machine had a conveyor belt where a single person loaded the strawberries right into the containers (out there in the field). The lemon one had about 8 cranes that needed 8 people to pick the lemons (one higher, one below) as the machine drove by the lemon trees.
At ds' school, there is a big push for almost the entire population to go to college - they actually advertise that in their orientation. It's a source of pride that most will be first generation college graduates (very high hispanic immigrant population) instead of useful trades like electrician, plumbing, etc. These days, if one isn't going into the health or IT/computer fields, it won't be so easy to live that American dream with a college degree (especially with the debt incurred).

:lmao what? Those classes got dropped because of the retarded emphasis on standardized testing that we’ve seen in K-12 education the last ~30 years or so, has nothing to do with a liberal agenda (same reason there’s less PE, schools are focused on cramming for standardized testing so they can compete for funding). And medicine (as in diagnosis) - if this is present, that blood level, that symptom, etc = particular diagnosis. I think they'll (doctors) will be replaced (or greatly reduced) before nurses - changing bedpans, turning patients, taking temperature/bp, etc.

How is it comprehensive if it doesn't include the wall?
Explain.
Do you really want to be spoon fed this badly?

Nothing's overplayed. In the upcoming election, Democrats aren't going to be able BS that border security is any sort of priority. Americans don't want people coming in lowering their wages. If Dems were smart, they would've understood that from last presidential election. But lobbyists are steering their boat. This is a huge W for the president.
This shutdown isn't over broader immigration reform, it's about that stupid wall. The vast majority of people don't care about it other than Trump and his base and the Dems certainly aren't after those voters.
IMO, he's not getting that wall through Congress, and every day this shutdown continues he's taking an L after another (which affects from the common people traveling to the farmers he screwed over with tariffs).
I get it he's going to have to find a way to save face on this, tbh, but other than the Dems caving, I don't see it.
AI's. :lmao
Tells me how far from the wagon you are. :lmao
"Coding" something to respond with "human responses" is nothing fucking close to diagnosing someone without potentially killing them or designing a building and the 10's of other engineering teams to finish a project. :lol
I am not referring to coding. Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning is what I'm referring to.
Stanford’s deep learning algorithm was tested against 21 board-certified dermatologists who reviewed a reported 370 images and were asked if “they would proceed with biopsy or treatment, or reassure the patient” based on each image. Results showed that the algorithm had the same ability as the 21 dermatologists in determining the best course of action across all images.

Doctor's aint getting replaced by shit. :lmao :lmao
That’s pretty short sighted.
I mean what proof is there? I see zero fucking movement anywhere. :lol
It's coming. At first, it'll be tools to "help" the professionals and then it'll reduce the number and then eventually replace. Imagine - no salary, no sickness, no vacation, not getting tired/making mistakes, etc - it'll be a business decision - the same way a Physician's Assistant does my annual checkup now and one physician "signs off" on all her decisions - replace docs' salary/time with PAs.

Dems went in vacationed in Puerto Rico with their lobbyists because they didn't want to invest in that "stupid wall". Big W for Trump. Dems stripes shown. Even giving the finger to dreamers. :lol

Comprehensive doesn't include everything under the sun.Why wouldn't it include a measly (according to you) $5 billion for a wall?

I think the only thing the doctors have in their favor is the lobbying power of the AMA and more importantly, BigPharma. They won’t sit idly by and watch prescriptions decline.

Most of health care (optometry, primary care, etc.) are consolidating into these big companies. The only one which seems to be lagging is dentistry/orthodontics, where in my area, there are still single owner practitioners. I am amazed at the number of prescriptions I see (literally bulging from their containers) at my local CVS when I pick up my son's epipen annually. IOW, a lot of the problem is rooted in lack of information/misinformation of basic nutrition - that is handed out by not only the doctors/PAs themselves but the government (MyPlate (no fat), food pyramid (old, I know), etc).

A case could be made that the old food pyramid actually led to more health problems and some of the major associations (American Cancer Society, and American Heart Association in particular) are influenced heavily by corporate interests.
