How many teams in NFL history have had worse consecutive playoff losses of this magnitude?

- Keenum to Diggs 60 yards pass on a whiffed tackle
- One of the worst missed PI calls in NFL history

Who had it just as bad or worse?

Bills losing four straight SBs still takes the cake. Easily.

While of course everyone will be talking about the egregious PI call, check out Saints receiver #13 after contact with Rams DB on the INT.
It's Meme material 100%.

WTF what he doing? Ball is still totally up for grabs and watch what he does. :rollin

And the Vikings got robbed worse in 2009. And the Cowboys in Lambeau in 2014. It happens, just usually not to the home team

Vikings 09 were the best team. Saints were not the best team either season. I don't have sympathy for those bountygaters.

Looks way worse in slow motion, tbh. But a missed call nonetheless.

Goff joins the very exclusive list of QBs who have beaten Brees in the playoffs :lol

Case Keenum
Rex Grossman
Alex Smith
Old ass fuck Matt Hasselbeck

Recent 49ers

2011: Kyle Williams in O.T.
2012: Twice failed at the goal line
2013: Int in the end zone

Vikings were gonna shit the bed like they did last season in Philly after their fluke win. No way Favre was gonna beat Peyton Manning in a Super Bowl especially choking the way he did towards the end of his career.

Bills missed on a last second field goal in 25 but got housed in the other three. OP is talking about blowing it on a single play

Cleveland Browns in 87 and 88 seems to be the closest comparison..

Different sport, but the Clippers blew a playoff series lead in an NBA-record five straight seasons, including the backdoor sweep against Memphis that got Vinny fired, the Rockets series meltdown, and CP3 and Blake both getting season-ending injuries in the same game against the Blazers.

This loss was worse than all the Saints playoff losses of the last ten years. The refs literally extended the game with zero justification. I would take a million Minneapolis Miracles over the NFL taking over the fucking game.

I kinda agree though the Alex Smith/Vernon Davis game was the biggest gut punch I felt. That game made me more numb to the Minny Miracle and yesterday though yesterday’s game is probably the most disappointing loss in franchise history.

Yeah for sure. Probably their best chance to win a second title with Brees. But they shouldn’t have blown two double digit leads in that game.

Complete gut punch. That non-call changes legacies and there's no doubt that it will cause rule changes, whether it be that coaches get a couple of challenges on PI per game or the refs get buzzed from the booth to review obvious missed calls like that. This one hurts alot; much more than last season. At least last year was self inflicted. It will take a while to get over.

:lol I still can't believe that was missed....between that and Durant's out of bounds no call in the NBA earlier this year.....just terrible. That missed call changes NFL history especially if the Rams end up winning it all.

Saints got the benefit of almost every call before that, like the aforementioned facemask and also not getting flagged for a delay of game near the goal line.

That said, it was such a blatantly bad call that all of the above is thrown out, the Saints were completely screwed out of their rightful spot in the Super Bowl.

I’m just glad Saints fans are handling this with a lot more dignity than other certain fanbases who still bitch about calls 20 years after the fact.

Brees-Brady dream Super Bowl matchup ruined. Sad man.

Vikings were best on both sides of the ball. And if you want to talk about choking, you won cos Peyton gave you the ball on that INT.

spurraider21
01-21-2019, 02:32 PM
that was one of the more obvious missed calls to close a game. its not even a controversial close call like the dez catch. the ref just didnt call it.

PI has been one of the worst enforced rules as a whole for the last decade or so, though.

Vikings didn’t deserve to win that game. You can’t turn the ball over the amount of times they did whether it was interceptions or fumbles and say you got screwed when the game was theirs to take. Saints played their worst game of the year on offense and the Vikings kept letting the Saints back in it with numerous turnovers. Peterson had 3 fumbles, Favre two picks, two more Vikings had fumbles. It was a clusterfuck of a game to be honest which neither side deserved to win. But the Saints were a better matchup against the Colts that season. Otherwise Peyton would have gotten his second ring and that would have been a disaster since he would have had a claim at GOAT at that point. Couldn’t allow that asshole to be goat.

he's right

but can we also take a minute to talk about zuerlein... i get that they're in dome conditions, but that was some absurdly clutch kicking. 48 yarder to send the game to OT is one thing, but the 57 yard game winner was right down the middle, and that shit would have been good from 70

That's what makes it funny; that they turned it over, what was it five times? And the Saints still needed help from the refs at home. :lol

Sure though, the Vikes can look in the mirror. If Adrian Peterson had an IQ above 50, he might've known how to make sure to hold onto a ball at the five yard line and to go up 21-0 at the half and shut the door!

That's really the point of it all though; the Saints were gifted that game in every sense. They were gifted that season; that's how so many of their games went to have gotten HFA in the first place.

That game was tied 14-14 at the half, when did the Vikings ever have the opportunity to go up 21-0?

"No team should ever be denied the opportunity to reach the title game (or simply win a game) based on the actions, or inactions, of those charged with creating a fair and equitable playing field. As is clear to all who watched the game, it is undeniable that our team and fans were unfairly deprived of that opportunity yesterday. I have been in touch with the NFL regarding yesterday’s events and will aggressively pursue changes in NFL policies to ensure no team and fan base is ever put in a similar position again. It is a disservice to our coaches, players, employees and, most importantly, the fans who make our game possible. The NFL must always commit to providing the most basic of expectations – fairness and integrity."
