Lol what hot fight? Maduro said he will talk to him and negotiate in peace. With Uruguay and Mexico as mediators.
The whole world already has seem the worthlessness of US support. Just look at Lybia, Iraq, Syria

Yes it is
This is my take:
- Maduro under Russian advising is taking the Syria strategy. The latest strategy which is to not take an extreme measure vs rebellion and treason. Assad won the war by reintegrating rebels to spociety. All he asked was for them to lay down their arms.Maduro will do the same with any rebel and even with Guaido who clearly commited treason on live tv. Even if they kill a few of your soldiers, always extend a hand. But security is key here to avoid military rebellion or assassination. Russians are helping there.
- Guaido cannot do mich more from what he did. It would be too obvious for him to ask US military to come in and he would even seen as sellout to his own people. He is basically in a corner
- US has not much choices either but to start sending in CIA and mercenaries through colombian border and start killing and burning villages. To incite Maduro to respond in a big way. Sure US can try to come in in a Panama like mission but its very risky and it would take a massive organization. Chances of that are close to zero. Another option is a false flag that would kill and maim many civilians and pin it on maduro. The Maidan/Ukraine strategy.
- sure US can just squeeze venezuela till it breaks. But not else they can do besides a full naval blockade or stopping oil imports. The latter would hurt americans too. And both wpuld cause humanitarian disasters. They would basically be acting like saudis vs yemen. Bad publicity

With DJT's popularity cratering and the walls of the Mueller investigation closing in, starting a war somewhere might look like solution to Trump.
Might not be Venezuela, but it's hard to picture Trump passing on the gore and glory of war.

Dude, I know I'm arguing what's better, a shit sandwich or a turd pie?... it's bad both ways. How you rank a potential dictatorship HoF is completely trivial, so if you want to put Pinochet atop, nobody will complain. It's like ranking players in basketball, tbh.
And I lived in a military dictatorship until the Malvinas war, so I know it sucks ball. My rationale for weighing years over atrocities is that for any civilian looking for a future, 25 vs 50 years is a big fucking deal, IMO. But hey, just explaining where I was coming from.
Agreed there is plenty of subjectivity, and I've never been to cuba, though I have lots of Cuban friends and their views of Castro are mostly negative. Generally speaking, they recognize Castro as a positive leader who corrupted over time, and since they lived most of the bad part and less of the good one they have negative views. I still think murder and torture are a big difference, if pinochet just locked up / kicked out his detractors this country would probably be over it already, but the systematic rape, torture and murder followed by denials, excuses and little to no justice until very recently means that people are still very bitter. Pinochet wasn't in power 50 years but the scars of his methods will last that and more, because blood is thicker than water.
Much like Hillary v Trump or gore vs bush , theyre both turd sandwiches as you say, but I disagree that it doesn't make much difference where you rank them. One can still be much worse than the other.

Six months into Trump’s presidency, we now have enough data to assess his own approach. The results are clear: Judging from Trump’s embrace of the use of air power — the signature tactic of U.S. military intervention — he is the most hawkish president in modern history. Under Trump, the United States has dropped about 20,650 bombs through July 31, or 80 percent the number dropped under Obama for the entirety of 2016. At this rate, Trump will exceed Obama’s last-year total by Labor Day.

really stepped it up in the Middle East:
For Trump, 2017 has already been an explosive year: The U.S. has said it dropped over 2,400 bombs on Afghanistan (http://www.afcent.af.mil/Portals/82/Documents/Airpower%20summary/Airpower%20Summary%20-%20August%202017.pdf?ver=2017-09-07-104037-223), up from 1,337 last year. In the fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the U.S. has already dropped (http://www.defense.gov/OIR/) 32,801 bombs, compared with 30,743 in 2016. And the U.S. has also conducted more than 100 strikes (http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/09/18/u-s-bombs-falling-in-record-numbers-in-three-countries/) against Al Qaeda in Yemen in 2017, compared with 38 in 2016.Trump did promise in a campaign speech in 2015 to “bomb the shit” (https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-recent-history-of-bombing-the-shit-out-of-em) out of ISIS, and he seems to be living up to his word—with little regard for the consequences.
Under Trump, civilian casualties from America’s war on ISIS have reached an all-time high in Iraq and Syria (http://time.com/4713476/isis-syria-iraq-casualties-us-airstikes/).
The pace of air attacks has led to dozens of civilian deaths, watchdogs say. From 28 to 88 civilians (https://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/drone-war/data/get-the-data-a-list-of-us-air-and-drone-strikes-afghanistan-2017#strike-logs) have been killed in Afghanistan, according to the Bureau for Investigative Journalism. And Airwars (https://airwars.org/data/), which tracks international airstrikes against ISIS, estimated that U.S.-led airstrikes killed 1,060 civilians in Iraq and Syria in August 2017, compared with 138 in August 2016.
In its worst month, March 2017, it’s estimated the Trump administration killed 1,881. (The Pentagon admitted in May that a single airstrike in Mosul, Iraq, was responsible for 100 of these deaths.) In contrast, President Barack Obama’s bloodiest month, July 2016, claimed the lives of 312, according to Airwars.https://www.newsweek.com/trump-era-record-number-bombs-dropped-middle-east-667505

Larison skewers righty peaceniks who think Trump is one of them:
The analysis here is wildly misleading. The Trump administration has previously taken a keen interest in meddling in the internal affairs of several countries, including Yemen, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela, and he has publicly threatened to attack most of those countries along with North Korea. The latest decision to recognize the opposition leader as Venezuela’s interim president is an outgrowth of the administration’s consistent hawkish position over the last two years. Let’s remember that Trump has twice illegally ordered attacks on Syrian government forces, he has ordered the illegitimate reimposition of sanctions on Iran in an effort to strangle their economy and foment regime change, and he has continued backing the Saudi coalition war on Yemen, which is a massive interference in Yemen’s affairs with catastrophic humanitarian consequences. To believe that this week marks a “sharp departure” from a previously non-interventionist foreign policy requires ignoring many of Trump’s biggest and most high-profile decisions. On the whole, Trump’s foreign policy to date has not been aimed at “at extracting the United States from overseas quagmires,” but rather sinking deeper into them. Trump escalated every war he inherited, and has pursued more aggressive policies toward Iran and Venezuela than his predecessor did. Almost everything Trump has done or tried to do has led to deeper entanglements in foreign conflicts and crises. This is worse than bad analysis. It is an attempt to misrepresent Trump’s entire record to make the recent Venezuela decision seem more surprising than it is.https://www.theamericanconservative.com/larison/venezuela-is-not-trumps-first-intervention/

Thanks brotha will study these links but I see only 3 countries listed in drone strike #s not overall
We just struck peace deal with Taliban just moments ago also retreating from Syria. Such retreats imo have more weight in my book than bombings.
Put it this way:
- obama bombed lybia to the dark ages and deposed of ghadafi creating a major void and terrorist nest
- obama armed jihadis in syria and bombed them to try to overthrow assad
- trump maybe had more drone strikes but he made peace with taliban and retreqting from syria
In the end all those above will be written in the hostory books and guess who will seem like the less of a warmonger?
Now its still early so yea Trump could nd up the kore warmonger but up to right now, obama leads him with a few olympic laps ahead tbqh

Thanks brotha will study these links but I see only 3 countries listed in drone strike #s not overallYou haven't studied them yet: Trump is far less transparent than his predecessors.
Overall airstrikes—manned and unmanned—in Afghanistan during the Trump administration reached nearly 9,600 over the past two years (https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2018/11/13/the-u-s-never-dropped-as-many-bombs-on-afghanistan-as-it-did-in-2018-infographic/amp/), a total not seen since Obama’s 2010-2011 surge, and 2018 was the single most intense year for the air war ever. June to September 2017 in Iraq and Syria (https://airwars.org/data/) represent an all-time high in that war, as well.
It’s hard to disaggregate drone strikes from those totals; the military has become less and less transparent about how it conducts its operations. In 2016, reporter Oriana Pawlyk obtained Air Force figures (https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2016/03/30/isis-kill-missions-1-in-5-drone-flights-includes-a-missile-strike/) indicating that one out of every three sorties over Iraq and Syria was flown by a drone, and a further 17 percent of those drone sorties accounted for strikes. But it’s unknown if those percentages still apply two years later.

Add to the fact that Trump ordered retreat from Syria, peace with taliban, potential peace with N Korea and has not started additional wars (yet)
IMO its an overwhelming victory by Obama in warmonger category (so far)

Venezuela Wants $1.2 Billion in Gold Back From Bank of England
Nicolas Maduro’s embattled Venezuelan regime, desperate to hold onto the dwindling cash pile it has abroad, was stymied in its bid to pull $1.2 billion worth of gold out of the Bank of England, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Bank of England’s decision to deny Maduro officials’ withdrawal request comes after top U.S. officials, including Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton, lobbied their U.K. counterparts to help cut off the regime from its overseas assets, according to one of the people, who asked not to be identified.

'This Is Very Dangerous':
Trump Administration Seizes Venezuela Oil Assets,
Renews Threat of Military Action If Maduro Stays
The Trump administration intensified its interference in politically-fractured Venezuela on Monday by announcing the seizure of billions of dollars in assets connected to the nation's state-owned oil company,
executive order (https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-taking-additional-steps-address-national-emergency-respect-venezuela/)against Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PdVSA)—a primary source of income and foreign currency for the country
Bolton also issued a fresh threat of military action by telling reporters in the White House briefing room that Trump "has made it clear that all options are on the table" when it comes to next possible steps.
Wall Street Journal report published last week revealed (https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/01/25/confirming-us-orchestration-report-details-pences-key-phone-call-venezuelan) that
Guaidó's coup attempt has been highly coordinated with Trump administration officials and Republican lawmakers.
"The U.S. instead appears to be aiming for regime change and tightening sanctions to bring Maduro to his knees," Sachs concluded.
"Such an outcome is perhaps feasible, though it would leave a very bitter legacy.
More likely, though, it would occasion further violence and an escalation of the economic crisis, possibly leading to war."

Michael Hudson's economic gloss of power relations between Venezuela and the US is typically interesting and limpid, but this odd detail related to BOE's theft of Venezuela's gold stood out to me:
There was never real trust in the Bank of England or Federal Reserve, but it seemed unthinkable that they would refuse to permit an official depositor from withdrawing its own gold. The usual motto is “Trust but verify.” But the unwillingness (or inability) of the Bank of England to verify means that the formerly unthinkable has now arrived: Have these central banks sold this gold forward in the post-London Gold Pool and its successor commodity markets in their attempt to keep down the price so as to maintain the appearance of a solvent U.S. dollar standard?
Paul Craig Roberts has described how this system works. There are forward markets for currencies, stocks and bonds. The Federal Reserve can offer to buy a stock in three months at, say, 10% over the current price. Speculators will by the stock, bidding up the price, so as to take advantage of “the market’s” promise to buy the stock. So by the time three months have passed, the price will have risen. That is largely how the U.S. “Plunge Protection Team” has supported the U.S. stock market.
The system works in reverse to hold down gold prices. The central banks holding gold can get together and offer to sell gold at a low price in three months. “The market” will realize that with low-priced gold being sold, there’s no point in buying more gold and bidding its price up. So the forward-settlement market shapes today’s market.
The question is, have gold buyers (such as the Russian and Chinese government) bought so much gold that the U.S. Fed and the Bank of England have actually had to “make good” on their forward sales, and steadily depleted their gold? In this case, they would have been “living for the moment,” keeping down gold prices for as long as they could, knowing that once the world returns to the pre-1971 gold-exchange standard for intergovernmental balance-of-payments deficits, the U.S. will run out of gold and be unable to maintain its overseas military spending (not to mention its trade deficit and foreign disinvestment in the U.S. stock and bond markets). My book on Super-Imperialism explains why running out of gold forced the Vietnam War to an end. The same logic would apply today to America’s vast network of military bases throughout the world.https://michael-hudson.com/2019/02/venezuela-as-the-pivot-for-new-internationalism/

Rep. Ilhan Omar Clashes With Iran-Contra Convict Elliott Abrams Over U.S. Role in Central America
she questioned Abrams’ credibility given his role in the Iran-Contra affair and support for U.S.-backed coups in the '80s.
“In 1991, you pleaded guilty to two counts of withholding information from Congress regarding your involvement in the Iran-Contra affair, for which you were later pardoned by President George H.W. Bush,”
“I fail to understand why members of this committee, or the American people should find any testimony that you give today to be truthful.”
Omar responded, “That was not a question. Thank you for your participation.”
went on to reference Abrams’ 1982 testimony in which point he dismissed reports of the El Mozote massacre in El Salvador—which was carried out by U.S.-trained Salvadoran unit—as being “not credible (https://www.webcitation.org/6BvSC8Irn?url=http://www.markdanner.com/articles/show/the_truth_of_el_mozote).”
“You later said that the U.S. policy in El Salvador was a fabulous achievement,” Omar said. “Yes or no, do you still think so?”
“El Salvador has been a democracy. That’s a fabulous achievement.” :lol
“Yes or no, do you think that massacre was a fabulous achievement?” Omar pressed on. “That happened under our watch.”
“Yes or no?” Omar pushed again.[/COLOR]
“No,” Abrams replied as Omar said, "I will take that as a yes."
“Would you support an armed faction within Venezuela
that engages in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide
if you believed they were serving U.S. interests as you did in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua?”

Coup attempt in tatters
To witness the growing cracks in the coup plotters’ strategy, one need only to observe Guaidó’s own increasingly desperate antics. At the international level, he has been frantically attempting to gain control of foreign-held government assets – so far, to little avail. On the domestic front, having promised amnesty to members of the military who are willing to defect to his side, he is now struggling to get a measure to keep this promise passed by the opposition-controlled National Assembly that he leads. And in the latest provocative move, he recently called on supporters to surround military bases and “demand the delivery of humanitarian aid.” As a result, the opposition camp seems to be fracturing even further, with several of its major figures – including Claudio Fermín and Laidy Gómez – now calling Guaidó’s strategy into question.
The same signs of desperation are beginning to show in Washington. Trump administration officials have taken to issuing ever more aggressive threats. National Security Advisor John Bolton, for example, posted a series of menacing tweets aimed at members of the Venezuelan military. Trump himself has been taking the coup-mongering rhetoric to new heights of outlandishness. In a speech in Miami – the Mecca of Cuban and Venezuelan exile hardliners – he praised pro-opposition terrorist Oscar Peréz (who attacked Venezuela’s Supreme Court and Justice Ministry with grenades) and said that members of the Venezuelan military who refuse to defect to Guaidó’s side have “everything to lose.” The Venezuelan high command responded promptly that “the armed forces of the Bolivarian nation will never accept orders from any foreign government or power, nor an authority that does not come from the sovereign decision of the people.” Just before this article went to press, reports emerged that Vice President Mike Pence will travel to Colombia on February 25 to give a speech in which he will demand that Maduro step down.

Vice President Pence Announces New Sanctions Against Venezuela's Maduro in Speech From Colombia
The Trump administration on Monday announced new sanctions on allies of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro
as it struggles to find new ways to boost his opponent Juan Guaido after an effort to deliver humanitarian aid to the economically devastated nation faltered amid strong resistance from security forces who remain loyal to the socialist leader.

Elliot Abrams admits Russians were sent to deal with power sabotage and recalibrate the s300 system. That solves the question why US was attacking grid, to take s300 out of commission. With a working s300 no way a ground war can start as air support would be needed. In order to take out s300z a massive air Force and missile attack would be needed. US is just not ready for that

TRUMP'S GAMBLE COULD UNRAVEL COLOMBIA'S PEACE DEAL
The Colombian peace deal of 2016 ended the longest-running conflict in the Western hemisphere.
It won the country’s then-President Juan Manuel Santos the Nobel Peace Prize.
But now, with the world’s attention on the internal strife in neighboring Venezuela,
the Colombian deal faces its greatest threat yet.
President Ivan Duque and his party, Democratic Center, are rejecting key elements of the pact, determined to renegotiate it.
And they have found in the Trump administration a vital international ally to back them up.
The U.S. is charging Jesus Santrich, a top FARC official, with orchestrating a major cocaine deal (https://www.ozy.com/provocateurs/meet-the-colombian-el-chapo-otoniel/92754), arguing that the crime was committed after the peace deal was signed, rendering Santrich ineligible for the judicial benefits and non-extradition guarantees of the JEP.
The FARC claims Santrich was set up by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and
the U.S. has so far refused to provide evidence.
The American ambassador to Colombia, Kevin Whitaker, told a local radio channel after Duque’s rejection of the draft law that America is “very much in agreement with what he did.”
https://www.ozy.com/fast-forward/how-trumps-gamble-could-unravel-colombias-peace-deal/93318?utm_source=pdb&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=04042019&variable=992d608214b505003aa04bf10a595031

The so called "coup" attempt was just a show for American and European audience consumption. You can easily tell by watching the Western coverage the last couple of days(CNN, fox, European news) and compare it to actual reality on the ground seen through interviews with Venezuelans and social media videos.
US media will milk this to increase sanctions and economic blockade on the country.
It seems Guaido and even López were used as pawns in this scheme by US intelligence and/,or Venezuelan and Russian intelligence. You can tell by looking at their faces on photos taken that early morning and by the fact that López immediately ran to the Chilean embassy. They knew they'd been duped and used as pawns.
The show will go on produced and directed by US intelligence. They are using psychological warfare not only on Venezuelans but on American and European citizens.Be aware US intelligence is running the show they don't spend 100 billion in Intelligence to let an idiot like Guaido run the show. Guaido is their dancing monkey. Watch the monkey dance. Dance monkey! Dance!

Putin does not have anything on him that amounts to shit that has already floated.
Putin is the one in the relationship who realizes he’s dealing with a destabilized fool.
This is not what Putin wanted. In a number of ways this is far more dangerous than Hillary to him.

People talk about sanctions as if they were bloodless. Nothing could be further from the truth.
If anyone did similar to us, we'd construe it, rightly, as a cause of war.

This feels kinda weird to me. US officers openly standing with coup plotters on social media.
Not too long ago, it just wouldn't have been done that way. There would have been distancing and plausible deniability, like 2002.
There's a price to be paid if the USA over-promises Guaido and his supporters only to leave them in the lurch or otherwise fail to dislodge Maduro.

An explosive new report reveals how Guaidó representatives in Colombia embezzled $125,000 meant for humanitarian aid, suckering deserting soldiers and blowing the aid money on luxury goods.
Now, a report by the staunchly anti-Maduro PanAm Post editor-in-chief Orlando Avendaño has revealed a shocking scheme of fraud and embezzlement behind the aid imbroglio. According to Avendaño, Guaidó’s lieutenants embezzled huge sums of money that had been promised to Venezuelan soldiers who deserted their positions and snuck across to the Colombian side at Guaidó’s urging.
The cash that was used to entice desperate soldiers and would-be mercenaries to defect became a slush fund for the US-backed coup leader and his gaggle, who spent it lavishly on hotels, expensive dinners, nightclubs and designer clothes. As Guaidó’s gang lived the high life, he covered for their fraud, keeping his lips sealed until it was exposed through a leak by the Colombian intelligence services.
At a press conference on June 17, Guaidó attempted to downplay his responsibility and redirect public anger back towards Maduro. “The government does not manage [public] resources because we are in the process of transition,” he said. “The dictatorship has begun a process of disinformation.”
But then the defecting Venezuelan soldiers announced plans for a press conference where they pledged to provide even more evidence of fraud

The weekend of the concert offered a preview of this month’s corruption revelations, with several embarrassing incidents involving Guaidó’s confidantes. Early in the morning of February 23, Popular Will party members Freddy Superlano and his cousin and assistant Carlos José Salinas were found unconscious in a motel in Cúcuta. According to police reports, the two had been drugged with scopolamine and robbed by women, presumably prostitutes, they met in the red-light district. After the women made an early morning dash from the motel room, staff found the two men unconscious and called police. Salinas died shortly after being hospitalized.
Days later, another top Venezuelan opposition figure, Lorent Saleh, was arrested in Cúcuta after he allegedly attempted to sexually abuse two women. He was released after figures close to Guaidó mediated with Colombian authorities. Saleh – a recipient of funds from the US government under the guise of “democracy promotion” – had previously been deported by Colombia to Venezuela after plotting terrorist attacks and assassinations in the latter country.

For Guaidó, the fall out is already beginning. Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Luis Almagro – an anti-Maduro fanatic who has transformed the OAS into a playground for Venezuela’s opposition – has called for a full investigation. It is hard to see how an already deflated Guaidó will be able to recover from this massive blow to his credibility as a self-proclaimed reformer. While Guaidó’s support in the streets of Venezuela is rapidly deteriorating, the Trump administration has yet to address the scandal and continues to voice strong support for their man in Caracas.
