ANTONIO GOING FROM GONER TO KNICK STARTER
By MARC BERMAN October 27, 2005 -- Today could have been the day Antonio Davis re-signed with the Bulls, had he reached a buyout settlement with the Knicks.
Under the NBA's collective-bargaining rules, the Bulls had to wait 20 days after a trade to re-sign their own player.
But Davis and the Knicks failed to reach an amicable divorce, and the burly 6-foot-10 veteran has gone from the potential waiver wire to expected Knick starting power forward opening night in Boston on Wednesday.
Though coach Larry Brown won't confirm it, Davis appears to have beaten out veterans Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor.
