View Full Version : Would DeColo have been a good PG for the Spurs

Was just watching The Beautiful Game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3y7cWmoBCI) again and DeColo is in a lot of those highlights. Just curious, since CoJo left, and Mills regressed, and Parker left, if DeColo would have stayed, do you think he would have gotten better and (pre-White) been the starting PG for the Spurs by now? I think he had the potential to be a Ricky Rubio type player if he had not quit on the team.

Please,De Culo couldn't even be the Point Guard in CSKA in Russia and Euroleague. They had to bring in shorty Sergi Rodriguez back from the NBA to have an actual PG on the team.

What he actually is,is a streaky SG.

Better than the Argie POS Laprosy that Manu put a good word for, tbh

I’d rather have Nico Laprovittola, and that guy Garino was good too. I thought they had good bball IQ. Manu’s recruits.

Nando DeColo? We're having a séance and trying to revive the ghost of Nando DeColo?

DeColo and Lap both put up good numbers in Europe. But they're both turnover machines who would get lit up by NBA defenders. But DeColo, in particular, can knock down the 3. I haven't looked this year, but last season he made close to 50% of his 3's. And when he does get to the FT line, he makes them. The boy can shoot. He's just too weak a ball handler and distributor for the NBA.

What is this, trip down memory lane week since the Spurs are obviously on the coroner's table now?

Remember when Speedy Claxton saved Tony Porker?

He’s just embarrassed himself against Alexey fucking Shved earlier this week.
Remember Shved? The guy who played the worst defense in NBA history? He dominated DeColo.

While we’re at it, do you think Pops Mensah-Bonsu deserves just one more crack at the rotation?

was Jeff Ayres a good big man?

He would've been amazing for this team and led us to a championship. Just like Manu would be a better #1 option today than Duncan (I know it's a pretty hot take) and we would've swept Golden St of Kawhi didn't get injured in 2017.

Well he's trying to come back to the league at 31 so he's in the prime of his career. I think in the right fit he'd be a solid backup somewhere but we'll see.

never given theopportunity while here, fkn pop basically buried this clown on the bench for no reason, then why waste his talents by drafting him?

Being extremely unathletic combined with his inability to space the floor sealed his fate. That's a deadly combo(in a bad way). Kyle Anderson makes due because of his length/defense but DeColo never had a shot in this league with those attributes.
