Pop lost to Miami on purpose the other night, to be sure Parker didn't reach the playoffs in another uniform. CIA stuff there.

Makes sense. If they’re out of the playoff chase there’s no point to play TP

Yeah, I was kidding about Pop losing on purpose. But that's the deal with Parker. They are all but eliminated from the playoffs, and Parker isn't going to be back. Might as well give your young guys some floor time.

They are making their final playoffs push actually (won their last 2) but they are 3 games behind Miami and 2 games behind Orlando.

And having to leap frog the Magic is gonna be actually harder than catching the Heat.

He was offered a contract, but wanted a bigger role than what he would've had on this team. It was for the best. White has come a long way.

Imagine Pop playing a Parker/Mills/Forbes lineup in the rotation :lol. You know he would have.

The team should have let him go since the end of 2015 when it was clear he wasn’t the same anymore.

weird, apparently the spurs didn't even make an offer until after tony told borrego to make him an offer:

"A little bit like Pop and R.C. in that I don't think JB believed I was going to leave," Parker explains. "So then I called him again two or three days after that and told him: 'I'm not saying this to get an offer for the Spurs to match. You give me an offer, and I'll sign right away. I'm not even going to bring it to the Spurs.'"

also tony: "I don't want to finish being on the bench and not playing." :lol

Duncan/Manu were still all star level players at age 37. Guess the big 3 couldn’t go 3/3 on all of them aging gracefully.

Tony turned back the clock in the playoffs in 2017, but his injury was no joke. It has been a career-ender for better players than Tony.

He's had his moments this year. I think he needs to just do the farewell tour next season and let the league shower him with tribute videos and autographed jerseys.

Lol Manu was a bench warmer most of his career who made 2 All-Star teams and had 8 turnovers in the most important game of his career. Gracefully, lol.

Even if Charlotte made the playoffs, it wouldn't be to Parker's credit. He's merely Kemba Walker's bench warmer.

25% that blistering three point shooting. While taking more attempts then the past two years with the Spurs. Way to evolve.
Kirby Bryant at 28% in his final glorious year.

Porker had about 20 really good games with the Hornets this year, got to give him that. Coming back from that type of injury is impressive.

Parker flies back with Spurs for Ginobili's jersey retirement

Despite being in the middle of a playoff push with his current team, Tony Parker isn't missing the chance to honor an iconic member of his old one.

On the same night his Hornets gutted out a much-needed overtime victory (https://www.nba.com/games/20190326/SASCHA) over San Antonio, Parker joined the Spurs on their flight to San Antonio in order to attend former teammate Manu Ginobili's jersey retirement. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, from where Parker will then fly to Los Angeles to rejoin the Hornets for their Friday tilt against the Lakers, according to Jeff McDonald (https://www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs/article/Tony-Parker-hitches-a-ride-back-to-San-Antonio-13719093.php) of the San Antonio Express-News.

Hornets coach James Borrego, who spent two assistant coaching stints with the Spurs, will also attend the ceremony.
“It’s going to be very nostalgic,” Parker said. “It will put everything in perspective. You start realizing everything we accomplished in this league. It will be emotional.”

is that what this thread is all about? I saw the title and while, I like HOTS, I have bigger fish to fry worrying about the Spurs playoff chances but I was always curious why this thread was always so high on the fresh takes with a title that seems antiquated. The Manure vs Enrique wars never die eh? Seems tired, the Spurs would have been better off this year with Tony on the roster and better still if that also meant Patty was off it. Tony is a Spurs legend. IMO the 4th best Spur ever, behind Timmay, the Admiral, and Ice but my feeling that way doesn't mean I need to take a wizz on Manu at every opportunity. This war is long over it is like those losers reenacting the Civil War in confederate army gear.

The only possible scenario to bring back Tony is if he decides to retire after next season and he wants a farewell tour on the Spurs accepting a mentor role as the 3rd string PG for the vet minimum.

And even then the Spurs would be doing Tony a solid, because it would be better to have a promising young guard as your 3rd string PG.
