View Full Version : Republicans release draft of heath care policy

I read through it, and was struck by the .... BUWAHAHAHAHAHA

fuck, I couldn't keep a straight face. April fools.

The mental defects running the Republican party couldn't come up with a health care solution if you held a constitutionally protected gun to their pointy little head.

I don't care if they didn't want to fix it, all they had to do was not fuck over American citizens by making it worse. If they come up with something better I am all for it, but they just tried to slowly fuck the ACA over so they can point fingers at the Dems. That is the opposite of making it feasible, that is quite simply sabotage for political gain.

You're head is so far up your ass. You still think Obamacare was a good thing.Ok, for the sake of argument, let us say the ACA was fucked from the get go. Was making it worse while not having an alternative, helpful to Americans, or harmful to them? The answer is clear to the sane.

You did not answer me, so I ask again, why does it make sense for Republicans to make what you deem a failure, even worse? Your high costs became higher thanks to them. I am not defending, nor attacking the ACA, but I do see that Repubs didn't help us by trying to sabotage it. I agree with you - but what is the solution?

When a Dem says he has a plan for Universal care - what happens?

The right screams "socialism" "how are you going to pay for it"

When Trump gifts 2 trillion to the 1% richest -ZERO people on the right asked "how will you pay for it"

or worse yet -

they accept the "it will pay for itself" bullshit.

So what is the answer - do nothing?

it’s difficult, tbh, there’s no sensible approach to healthcare reform that improves the current or previous systems that wouldn’t cap costs, include tax hikes, or significant govt subsidies. None of that really goes with the conservative agenda.

Well - if Dems could muster up some balls and respond when they get attacked and are called socialists -

they should respond with

"the republican party believes that only the elites deserve health care and they do not care if poor people die"

this should even the playing field.

Not putting Spurtacular on the spot, but this is in a nutshell the cookie-cut conservative answer, tbh. Obamacare so bad = anything else better. The problem with this answer is:

1) It glosses over the McCain vote derailed repeal only. After 8 years and finding themselves with full control of Congress and the Executive, there was still no replace plan, despite the yearly calls for repeal and replace.

2) While Obamacare clearly did not address cost, it’s undeniably popular because addressed better access. Anything that replaces it and can be considered ‘better’ would need to keep as much access (ie: pre existing conditions, affordability for lower income persons, etc) which is problematic because it needs govt intervention one way or another.

3) Paul Ryan as VP candidate put together probably the closest thing to a formal conservative plan for replacement, which included turning Medicare into a voucher program, reliance on HSAs, and basically did not address cost or access. People voted for Obama (and Obamacare) by a fairly wide margin.

4) It never helps either that the biggest argument against Obamacare was that it’s a job killer, yet the country employment level has been excellent by any measurable standard.

The last time there was a significant conservative addition to healthcare was Medicare part D. Was completely unfunded, and earned Dubya the RINO moniker from his peers (despite it wasn’t decried as socialism).

I don’t think Congress is gonna get it done, IMO. It might just take Trump and an executive order.

I had a policy through work. A good one. And it also tripled overnight.

The addition of pre-existing conditions, and pre-emptory raises in premium will do that.

Can't speak to how the actuaries in your plan managed to get that substantiated. This is why we need to increase income taxes on the wealthy, because you can bet your ass they are earning money on the profits from your health insurer, and paying less in taxes than you do.

That may change. Single payer is now being discussed at the progressive end of the Democratic party, and Medicare for all is a good first step, something the right will fight tooth and nail.

The two sides are NOT equal, but hey, I can't fault anybody for being cynical at this point. Just don't let the "both sides are equal" it cloud your thinking too much. That is an assumption that MUST always be challenged. Flat earth and globe earth theories are a good example of why that is.

Meanwhile, the oligarchy's whores in Trash's Exec continue to "neo-liberalize", aka destroy, their agencies.

Meanwhile, Bitch McC rams through in groups young incompetent ideologues into their Federal robes for life.

The right will fight because BigHealthCare pays them VERY WELL to fight.

Reducing America's cost of health care means reducing BigHealthCare's income, profits

BHC simply will not allow that and have the $$$ to protect their profits.
