It’s a pointless gesture. Trump voters don’t give a shit about tax returns. If anything, it just gives them the power to go “LOL Socialist Dems are a bunch of rich elitist hypocrites”

Maybe with Beto, but Bernie’s tax returns show a pretty ordinary level of income.

The charitable giving of a rich man that brow beats America. He saved 20++% on taxes compared to what he wants and donates 1-3%.

Yes and no. The idea that voluntary charitable donations makes any semblance of a difference in elevating people out of poverty has always been laughable.

Whatabouttrumpism. That's irrelevant. Bernie is grandstanding for years about helping the poor and donates 1-3% of his income even though he's giving up 20+% less taxes than he wants to implement. Can't help others unless everyone is forced to by the government apparently. I'm guessing this inconsistency is pretty standard though.

What inconsistency? The idea that assistance for the poor requires mandatory government wealth redistribution since there isn’t enough assistance for the poor that comes through voluntary charitable donations seems to be pretty consistent with a relatively wealthy guy only giving 1% of his income to charity.
The only people who claim that private charity programs alone provide adequate assistance for the poor are trickle down conservatives.

Perhaps the tens of millions of lefties should take initiative on what they grandstand on. If you care about the poor so much then I'm not sure why you are waiting on the government to force everyone to do something about it. And yes his money if donated would have helped. Just because his donation doesn't solve the entirety of a problem doesn't make not donating the logical choice.

How is giving as little of your own money away as possible not logical? It's an act of self interest. No different than how corporations shouldn't be expected to place the interests of anyone/anything above shareholder wealth. Compromising your lifestyle by giving away a chunk of income you're not required to give away isn't logical at all.
The only illogical belief here is that we don't need taxes because the rich are going to voluntary throw their money away and let it trickle down to the poor.

It's not logical if your goal is to help the poors which he has been grandstanding about for years. He cares about the poors so much he donates 1-3%.
Nobody stated that belief. You are kicking down strawman. The only thing that has happened is a rich leftist socialist got called out for barely donating to the poors that he grandstands about.

He never said he was willing to sacrifice a disproportionately high amount of his personal wealth, and his unwillingness to do so doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about poor people.
How much of his wealth should he have donated and why? Be specific.

His platform says he is but apparently only if the government forces him and everyone else to do it. Until then he apparently thinks that donating basically nothing will suffice while grandstanding.
Well if wants higher taxes then should have been willing to donate all the tax money that he saved because he has lower taxes.
