We had the series won, now we have lost it. This one is on Pop. When you have a team led by chokers, as coach you can't allow to have the absolute shitshow Pop pulled at the end of the 3rd.
This. Absolutely this. Spurs are an extremely flawed, badly constructed roster. These type of mediocre teams need all the advantage they can get. When your coach puts you in a position to fail like Pop did in that 3rd quarter, the outcome is inevitable.

Guaranteed this series is over. Hopefully denver wins the next 3 and puts these worthless fucks out of their misery.
If they had lost a closely contested game on the road, they'd look strong. But getting their shit pushed in after being up 19? They just told the Nuggets that they are the better team.

Game was lost in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Denver is in foul trouble and in the bonus, down 19, and Pop decides to take out the only two guys that can drive to basket or handle the ball.

This one is on Pop with his rotations and for not running more pick and roll at Jovic.
Talk about a fucking collapse. Pop is a dumbfuck for not staggering Demar and White. We're up big, let's throw a Mills-Belli backcourt out there for shits and giggles. IIRC even Aldridge was out.

Pretty terrible basketball this series. Neither one of these teams looks better than an 8-seed. Look like playoff neophytes - hot and cold, shitty ball.

I turned on the game right before they through things away in the late 3rd. I was impressed how aggressive the tempo was. The Pop makes substitutions and those guys, patty, Marco, Gay came in half ass'd. The tempo dropped to that of a regular season game. Us slowing down gave Murry a change to find is shot. I seen so many games go with a lead like this when pop subs in the late 3rd. It destroys the tempo. It reminds me of game 7 finals when pop did the same thing. Then I was screaming No! The starters have to grind it out! Its 15 minutes. Call time outs if they need to get a small breather/foul.

Questionable decisions in the 3rd Quarter. Jamal Murray going nuclear, that 3 ball with white glued on him and that Sprint to the stop 3 ball also we're just ridiculous shots he made.
Murray is the reason they closed out that game. You have to tip your hat when a guy just plays out of his mind.
Missed opportunity to come back home 2-0.

I don't see how momentum is a thing in today's NBA. It's really about runs, how many you get or how big they can get. Nets came into Philly will all momentum and the game was close until 76ers scored 50 in a quarter. Clippers obviously. Toronto just beat Magic by 30.

I don't buy into this bs. Spurs have had leads in both games. Should have won tonight. Denver's comeback was fluky. I have seen stuff like this happen in other playoff series in the past. In '14 OKC was up by 20 plus against the Clippers in game 4 in LA. OKC blew the lead and lost the game. Clippers tied the series 2-2 only to drop the next 2 games.
In '02 Celtics came back from 20 plus against the Nets in game 3 of the ECF. Won the game at home and took the series lead 2-1. I thought for sure the Nets would melt but they ended up winning 3 straight games after that.
Then Pop has the audacity to bring in his pet to close out the game like he's good. :lol

They didn't really make any big adjustments that the Spurs won't have an answer for...
-It was basically Murray getting hot in the 4th but I think Derrick will still guard him pretty well for most of the series....
-Jokic wasn't anything special
-Gary Harris is going off but that's expected when he's going to be guarded by Bryn/Marco.....
Outside of DWhite, Derozan, and LMA, the team was trash and the Spurs aren't going to win unless at least 2 of Rudy/Patty/Forbes/Beli is contributing, they've got a better chance of that happening at home tbh....
Now if Pop continues to play trash lineups like Mills/Forbes/Beli altogether, then that'll be a huge issue obviously.....

Actually I think Mills played well during that stretch. I think he got all 5 points there and got that momentum stopper with the 3. Gay was the problem. The plan was Gay to iso Plumlee and have 3 shooters surround him. Gay struggled mightily. Couldn't pick up a foul when we were in the penalty. Couldn't score. And Nuggets never sent a double.

The truth is that White got torched by Murray in the 4th quarter, he got destroyed, couldn't keep up, doesn't have the athleticism to keep up. White is our best defender and was annihilated by Murray, Pop couldn't do anything about that. Use who?

I'm so of two minds about this team.
I'm glad we made the playoffs, but at the same time, I know our guys don't have the mental capacity to hit the Finals, so the most logical thing was always to take the lotto pick.
It's just frustrating because the physical capability is there, but our lead players play dumb basketball. I got reminded of that critical flaw in their approach to scoring tonight. They don't focus on getting the easiest shot despite not being great shooters.
Absolutely maddening.

Bertons would be sent to the D league the way he played D in the 3rd. He was just walking around letting murray find his shot(b: go ahead you can have it) from that point murray made 8 for 9. The Denver coach is talking post game about Murray, saying he didnt want to take him out because he believed in him. Pop could learn a thing or two from this. DONT TAKE OUT THE PLAYERS WINNING THE GAME FOR YOU. LET THEM GRIND IT OUT!! KOBE, JORDAN LEBRON PLAYED ALL BUT 40 SECONDS OF THE BIG GAMES. Aldridge and others can suck it up for 1 and 1/4 left in the game!

The truth is that White got torched by Murray in the 4th quarter, he got destroyed, couldn't keep up, doesn't have the athleticism to keep up. White is our best defender and was annihilated by Murray, Pop couldn't do anything about that. Use who?

One thing is certain, Thursday and Saturday are MUST wins for us. We can't go back to Denver tied. This team won't win another game in Denver unless we're up 3-1.
I could see the Spurs winning another game in Denver as much as Denver winning another game in SA. Denver is young and inexperienced along with being a very streaky team. They could drop a game 5 or 7 at home. Obviously going up 3-1 would be ideal but if it's tied 2-2 I still give the Spurs a 50-50 chance of winning the series.

White's growing before our eyes but he still has limitations and alot is being placed on him this early into his career. He's doing what he can. That said, DJ is the higher ceiling player and his athleticism is superior to White's and he would've been able to consistently stop Murray if we had him healthy.

There is a reason we have the worst road record of all the western conference playoff teams and so, to ask them to win another game in Denver after giving this one away is not a likely possibility. Winning the next two games are still very much possible, though.

The current draft class is pretty crappy. Outside of Zion and Ja Morant the rest of these guys are not great prospects. This is a draft where after the first 2 picks the rest of the field is on an ever playing field. Last year would have been the year to get a good lotto pick.

The Spurs missed a golden opportunity tonight. Not saying they can't win the series because they still have a great chance to win the series, but they easily could've (actually should've) won tonight taking a 2-0 lead back home. To me that kills any confidence Denver has and pretty much wins you the series. Instead you gave the Nuggets their confidence back and come home tied 1-1.
Denver isn't as good as their regular season record indicates, but it's a shame that the Spurs didn't go for the kill tonight by stealing the first two games on Denver's home court.

Thinking back on the game. Denver really didn't cook anything especially different that the Spurs couldn't handle. Murray got hot.
You can always find plays to blame the refs on. NBA officiating has just gotten worse overall. No point complaining about it.
Gay, Mills, Beli, Bertans just need to play better ball. I am not typically a huge fan at times with Pop playing a number of them together off the bench but this team is going nowhere if they don't produce.

That is one reason I never liked LMA. A big is supposed to "show" when the team isn't switching. To me it is the most important yet most difficult thing a big is asked to do. It requires great judgment, great timing, great quickness, great body control, and unrelenting hustle. But if the big doesn't show, it leaves the guards hanging out to dry. LMA's inability or unwillingness to show is one big reason our guards, for the most part, get torched.

Yeah that was epic. He doesn't shoot that well when he is by himself in an empty gym.
I wouldn't have guarded him the same way. He was automatic running the same play time and time again. You gotta try to knock that rythm out of him. It's like they were instructed to let him take those shots no matter what, even when he got hot.
Also I don't really criticize Pop much, bit it's hard to defend him when he lets a 19 point lead erase and does not call timeouts promptly or brings back the key players. Milsap was in foul trouble and it's like Pop gifted him mismatches.

oddly enough the Jokic 3pter started the run. same thing happened in san antonio when nuggets barely lost by 1. He hit a 3 towards the end of the game and it led to like a 14-0 run or something like that.

LMA is a Bruce Lee Bowenesque player:

I forgot about him conveniently undercutting BI this year, now he punching players in the family jewels? Channeling his inner CP0, I see. :lol
Y'all better hope Silver doesn't suspend his ass for game 3. :)
Silver could careless about who wins this series. Now if LMA did this to Curry he would have gotten suspended.

I honestly think Murray could go off again in San Antonio. That guy loves being a villain look at what he did to lonzo in La or Irving in Boston. He loves to go into to enemy territory and piss people off.

He's a very streaky player. Anything is possible with him.

I think Spurs would take it personally that they blew 19 points lead twice. I’m sure they had an earful from Pop, and will readjust. Spurs by 25 points and plenty of garbage for Lonnie and the crew. GSG!
