yeah they were terrible, but if you don't give up a 19-point lead all of this doesn't even happen

spurs1990
04-16-2019, 10:40 PM
Yeah don't see Refs making an impact on the game.

The sequence of five consecutive horrible plays that squandered the 19 point lead is what I would blame the loss on.

Home cooking is expected when you have a close game. Spurs shouldn't have blown that 19 point lead to begin with.

That Forbes non-call was pretty shady, tbh. They have been calling that all season.

Refs did suck. But I want Skip calling out Pop bc Pop put the refs in a position to seal the deal. Totally on Pop

They were shit. I got a sinking feeling around the time of Pop’s T. Think it was a 2-pt game at that point. So ready for robot refs

phxspurfan
04-16-2019, 10:47 PM
Spurs blew the lead with dumbass lineups. Nuff said. Hope Pop learned his lesson that Denver’s guards truly are far and away better and more explosive than ours. More PT for defenders like White is in order to win this series, otherwise we will be going to Cancun.

RC_Drunkford
04-16-2019, 10:49 PM
one of White and DeRozan has to be out there at all times to make sure we run smart offense. Mills and Belinelli can't do that and they are the worst defenders on the team, that's why we lost.

He's right in that it total changed the momentum. More the no-call on Forbes.

u blow 2 large leads, then u on t he ropes asking refs for bail out calls?

spurs only have themselves to blame

There were also a ton of bad calls going in favor of SA tonight, especially in the first half.

We had twice 19 points advantage, and the refs are the problem? C'mon...

Yeah and they only played 32 and 33 minutes. It's the playoffs, for what are we saving them?!
White had no foul trouble whatsoever

They say if you deserved to win, the refs can’t lose it for you. But this was pretty close to the 2012 playoffs when the Thunder got every call and backdoor swept the Spurs. I just hope this reffing isn’t trending for the series. Speaking of all this, anybody seen Donaghy lately?

The refs sucked. No doubt about it. Denver was hacking us the entire 4th quarter and nothing was called until Pop went off on the refs and got his tech. Next thing you know, we got 3 straight whistles. Sad that it had to come to that though.

I doubt it was a LMA's punch but in a game the refs were really bad we were lucky they didn't see this.

I agree! I don't know why Pop let Mills that long when its obvious, Denver made the run as soon as Mills came in. This also happened after the defense made the adjustment on how to guard the pick and roll. smh!

That's definitely a frustration/retaliation nut punch.

Harris gets LMA with an elbow on the screen and Aldridge floors him with a sneaky one.

I missed that hit from LMA to nutsack. I assumed someone had sanctioned a nut job, just thought it came from someone's accidentally knee not a jibbernadder.

Lucky for the Spurs the officials missed that.

If you ask me,it was about damn time we saw a Spurs #12 lay someone on the floor once again.

HankChinaski

LMA really knows how to get a man down on all fours.

An I thought DeRozen was the nut job

No amount of breathing exercises an altitude training ever prepares for that.

This loss didn't bother me at all tbh.. Murray was red hot, defense was shit, but we still went in there and stole home court.. We've been going back and forth w/ these guys all year so no surprise

GreekSpursfan
04-17-2019, 08:40 AM
The game was lost on defense not offense. Gonna have to defend Pop here. You can't play someone 40 plus minutes when you know we're one of the least athletic teams in the league, you have to rotate players and some times bad rotations happen.
LMA, Poetl and White cost us that game defensively because they were responsible to contain Murray on the pick n roll with Jokic. Yes we love White but switch him with Beverly just for defensive purposes and we win this game.

Refs were a part of this loss! A T on Pop trying to call a timeout! Constant hacking of the arms but their loss of the 19 point lead started w/the no defense crew (Mills, Belinelli, Bertans, Gay & DeRozen on the floor! Constant quick shots & turnovers while I was screaming at the tv! Opportunity lost to go 2-0! Totally disgusted! We must protect home court refs trying to help Denver!:bang:bang:bang:bang

Refs and bad play were both factors.
I just rather not have refs be one. I want them to win or lose on their own merit. That's a legit part of the game, more than the refs letting the crowd tell them how to officiate.

Anyway, Nuggets in 5

Eh, that's just fighting through a screen. That stuff happens. I saw that happen to Tim all the time on his screens.

Is this something that the league can surprisingly suspend him for? Lol

Oh hell no,even if the second angle wasn't there to provide plausible deniability, the league wouldn't ruin a series with a suspension for something that weak.

This isn't Donkey's repeated bullshit,LMA has a clean record.

That's my take as well, and my only real frustration with the game.

In a bubble, you take the split on the road and be happy with it. The fact that the 2nd game was competitive is even better.

But to choke up a 19-point third quarter lead and give up a chance to really take a stranglehold of the series...that hurts.

I fully expect Denver to win one in San Antonio, so we are probably going to 6 or 7 now. If the Spurs lose, they will have this game to point to.

He was suspended for nut punching LBJ in the Finals.

The Nuggets finally hit some of their WIDE OPEN looks... that's really all there is to it imo. Spurs only shot is to have them or anyone else shoot like Den did in game 1.

Losing a 19 point lead in the first half is understandable. It happens all the time. Losing a 19 point lead in the second half means that either the Spurs lost their focus or their defense is that bad that once Denver got on a roll, Spurs defense could not stop them. Hopefully it was just a loss of focus, because I guarantee you that Denver team is going to have more confidence after last night's comeback.

Spurs need to limit Mills minutes or find a way to keep him
off the floor. They aren't good enough to
cover for him. I think he's unplayable in the playoffs. If they don't figure it out they are going home.

This is the solution above
Gay struggled because Mills cannot set up any kind of good offense and then Mills gets used on defense
Imagine Dejonte out there instead of Mills
What could have been.,,

Pop needs to get his head out of his ass because doubling jokic is completely idiotic. he is not an elite scorer and he passes so well out of the double, why tf does Pop insist on doubling him instead of letting LA/Poeltl guard his slow chunky ass
