One coaches football

The other coaches basketball

Belichek is the head coach. They have offensive and defensive coordinators, special teams coaches that have to be more involved in the game an with their players that have a size of upwards of 53 to manage.

Basketball has one head coach an a couple of assistant coaches with a 15 roster limit. I hardly see assistant coaches huddling with the players and telling them anything in game.

Two huge dynamic approaches to how one views, strategizes, and makes game plan adjustments in game and before games.

I constantly hate this comparison between the two franchises. The only link between them is their longevity as championship contenders and consistency to be in the race

Belichick doesn't overpay to re-sign role players like Patty Mills or ...Trey Flowers.

He also doesn't trade away his best player.

Nor does he smack-talk our great 45th President.

Dumb schtick. I work full time IT programming and I'm working from home today due to the expected thunderstorms.

Keepin' it real

Belly Czech never had to win a 7-game series. That's the main difference.

One has toiled away in the vastly superior conference his whole career (yes, even this year).

The other gets what amounts to a free pass to 5-1 or 6-0 in the division each year (40% of his games) setting them up nicely for playoff byes and home field.

It's a legitimate comparison. People don't like cross-sports references but at some point you do need to make some reasonable analogies when they are there to be made.

If the NFL played 7 game series (which btw, is a really dumb ass way of comparing the NFL and NBA) Belichick would still win. Belichick motivates his players. Pop tends to spend his time praising opposing players while Pop puts his players in the dog house if they do something he doesn't like. Pop acts like a 5 year old when interviewed. He has no personality. Other players in the NBA don't want to play for Pop. Every player in the NFL would give their left nut to play for Belichick. Pop allows President Trump to easily get in his head and scramble his brains. Pop has had a great run but, he really is getting old. He doesn't relate to players like he used to. And Pop has never related to the press whether local or national. He acts like a spoiled brat when being interviewed. And for the record trying to win one game or you are out is much harder mentally than getting 7 tries at 4 wins. Just sayin' and JMHO. Subject to rewrite if we win the NBA Championship this summer which we won't of course.
