his shot is being worked on.
I am hoping when he is off he looks to pass more then shot
when he is on then I would want him to look to score more

I think he will average close to 7 this year :smokin

I think last year at they beginning of the season I said 17 and 6.5 for Tony. I was damn close.

This season, I'll guess 18 and 7.3.

that's optimistic don't you think? considering he is working on his shot. Last year, he averaged 4, what makes you think he'll make the jump from 4 to 7 this year? I'm thinking if his shot improves (which in all likelyhood it will) he'll start taking more shots and less assists, thereby increasing his PPG rather than his APG. I think he will average about the same amount of assists as last year, but will probably average about 19 points per game.

What the heck?

I know Manu fans hate TP, but Tony averaged 6.1 assists last season.

I do not think his shot will improve much until atleast the allstar break
it takes time
you are being more optimistic on his shot improving faster then me :smokin

i really hesitate because the result will really be impacted by his work on his shot.
If emphasis on assist i say he will be 16 and 7
If TP's shoot is falling and the team needs scorer because finley and barry do not live to expectation it will be 17.5 and 6

As i write i really think given the composition of the team that tony will score less and pass more so i will go with the first scenario:
Tony is in for 16 and 7 (he will shoot less and sometime struggle with his reborn shot but the increase in made FT (and as always lay ups)should compensate to make it for 16)

I think he will average 17.1 points and 7.5 assists.

I think Manumania is thinking of the playoffs where Tony averaged 4.3 assists per game.

BTW, I don't hate Tony Parker.:)

Due to Pop having Tony, Nick, and Beno, and sometimes a newly confident Brent, I figure Tony may see his season MPG and stats go down, just as Tim's did last season.

Kori that was a stupid remark from your part, because you know I don't hate TP. I just made a dumbass remark aswell so we're even http://spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smilol.gif I got confused. You're right, he did. I agree with ducks original assesment then, 7 assists looks very plausible.

Tony had 34 MPG last year.

Anybody think that his MPG, with both Nick and Beno as backups, will go down this regular season, along with his stats?

17 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, .490 fg%, 74 FT %, 1.3 steals a game.

improved J and FT gets back the time he loses on the bench for a deep team. this would be a really great year for TP, imho.

I think his average will be somewhere between 6.0 and 8.0 but it all depends on how the new offense looks, with as many changes as i anticipate this season- primarily using tim at about a 29-30 minute per game clip with a pronounced rotation focused around using all pop's new offensive weapons it's a question.

I think he'll average about 6.5 assists per game, and around 15 points. I don't foresee any big change in his game or a change in his minutes. Finley's presence might shave a point or two off his ppg.

Manumania, I know you don't hate TP. I was just using the miscue to throw in a Argentina hates Tony joke.

I think Tony will average 17 and 6.7. It'll be hard for him to average 7 since Spurs share the ball really well.

how many assist will tp average this year

I realize there are a two ways to accept this title but I keep wanting to add an "s" to assist. Does that make me a pluralist, or not?

Something to think about, eh?

All three good takes, ducks.

Actually Tinsley tends to control the ball a bit too much, system or not. Saras is much better at encouraging team play.

Manu 20-6r
Duncan 22-11r

I definetly believe that TP will see fewer minutes per game this year. I expect something like 26-29 minutes.

14.2 pts
5.3 asts

For your sakes, I think the main priority for TP this year is to improve his FT% & his defense, and not worrying about improving his assists.

tp's d was very good against pistons during finals

tp is going to see atleast 30 minutes regular after the allstar break
nve is OLD you save him for later

barry could be gone by the allstar break to...

16.5 PPG, 6.5 APG, 30-32 MPG, 49-50 %, 36 % 3PT, a bit less TO, rbd about the same, a bit more steal, and better D
