Reading Grant's autobiography now. He deserves much praise; but if the insinuation is that he is a better general than Robert E. Lee? No.

Since he wasn't a traitor to the US Grant is automatically better than Lee.

Where in the Constitution does it say that states can't secede?States aren't individuals.

Anyone can be a traitor. No document can stop someone who wants to betray the union and the oath taken to protect it and the constitution if he wants to because he likes slavery.

Per us constitution, treason is “levying war against the United States”. Explain how lee doesn’t fit that, “idiot lemming”.

Um...ok? So confederate soldiers, as well as people who aided them, were traitors. Are we now in agreement?

What's so great about Robert E Lee? Why should it be obvious that Lee is the better general when he lost the war? Grant is clearly the better writer.

Statue and school scoreboard.Lost Cause sentimentality. I'm slightly familiar, as a native South Texan.

i have always been amazed at how much credit RE Lee gets for being a conventional gentleman of his time.

Lee's army should've been finished off in 1862 had McClellan not been such a pussy. He actually has a mixed record as a general but he had to be deified by those who couldn't accept the huge and final L the south took.

p.s., Since this was my very first post, I want y'all to know that my "team" is not, repeat, NOT the Dallas Mavericks. I only picked them because I could not sign up without selecting a team. I don't like basketball, and I really can't stand pro sports of any kind.

As for my favorite sport team, it would have to be the University of Oklahoma football. Boomer Sooner!

That's very much the prevailing opinion of the day. Generals and soldiers very afraid of taking on Lee who was basically undefeated for a long time. In most cases, Grant
won because of numbers and resources only. He was criticized harshly for it, too.

Remember he was the North's top choice for top general, too. He had kicked ass in the Mexican War too.
