Bucks exercise option on Ford's contract
October 28, 2005

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Bucks exercised a 1-year option Friday on the contract of guard T.J. Ford, keeping him in Milwaukee through the 2006-07 season.

Ford was the eighth overall selection of the 2003 draft and made the All-Rookie second team despite missing the last 26 games of the season with a bruised spinal cord. Then he sat out the 2004-05 season after undergoing cervical spine surgery.

``T.J. is a dynamic player and a key to our success going forward,'' general manager Larry Harris said in a statement. ``He has worked tirelessly to get himself back on the court and demonstrated in the preseason that he's ready to help lead our team.''

The 22-year-old Ford, cleared to return in June, appeared in six preseason games for the Bucks and averaged 14.8 points and a team-high 5.8 assists. He capped exhibition play with a 22-point, 10-assist effort against Denver.
