As much as we complain, it really sucks to be some of those other teams.

Blake had an amazing year, and now he’s hurt and getting $40+ per year with zero help around him.

This is spurs related
They need a point guard and can not get a star

Need to extend team leader Patty... 3 years/$60m should cover a lot of coffee parties, IMO

I'll root for Patty where ever he is or where ever he goes. But I honestly think Spurs will be better off if he leaves. He's no good to us if he's not going to shoot 40 3FG.

Mills contract is probably too expensive for them. But they might be interested in Forbes. Their 15th pick is intriguing

I don't see any interest in Mills there. Nobody wants the Spurs worst palyers.

I know you’re joking on 15 for Forbes, but we’ve turned George Hill right before his free agency into something similar. Unfortunately teams aren’t as dumb anymore.

Most people around here would prefer dumping Mills over Forbes. But if it’s going to mean giving up value to get rid of Mills, and getting value for Forbes, then Forbes is the one to move. They're redundant and Patty is only 14 months from becoming an expiring contract (basically after July 2020 free agency, he’ll be much easier to trade).

I'm not saying 15 for Fobes. I'm saying Forbes and the 19th pick for Pistons 15th. That is a possibility, it's just a matter of who the teams target

I think Mills makes sense for a lot of teams, even at his price. It’s not just the Spurs that value his leadership/shooting. Spurs probably value it MORE than other teams, but teams like DET and even PHX that need guard depth and leadership have to be looking at players like this.

Do I think SA could net a real asset? Probably not, but if they can not have to pay to trade Mills, that alone (cap space, clearing log jam) may be enough reason.

Mills reminds me of bad Bonner, when he was playing higher in the rotation than his skillset would dictate. With Murray healthy and Walker hopefully being good enough to warrant minutes with the big squad, Mills should be a fringe rotation player. He might even get the treatment that Parker was going to get from Pop, had Parker stayed around.

Mills shot 11% from 3 against the nuggets. He's untradeable because he sucks so bad and he's pop's pet.

I agree; but I am saying there will be teams that are interested in Mills. Money aside, he will be valued by certain teams for certain reasons. And I find it hard to believe Pop/RC would be ok with paying someone 12/13M to not play...Mills would never complain about that role, but like TP I am sure he want to play.

At least Raptors Coach Bench their own midget in game 4. Pop would have never done that :lol

I dont think teams that value Mills would be too scared of that. Its not great obviously, but Mills is a regular season minutes soaker that can play PG in a pinch and provide some 3PT shooting (shot just under 40% for the season). I dont think anyone would expect Mills to be some playoff savior.

Pop will never bench Mills. He plays him to justify the contract, same with Pau. The only hope is Patty gets injured and somebody takes his spot. And I don't see that happen since Mills has missed like 4 games in 3 years

The article says they also need a back up center. Adding the rights to Multinov could be attractive to them.

Pretty much this. Love me some Patty but he's simply got to hit at a better clip than he did this year. I am hopeful that if he can go back to playing more of a SG with less ball handling next year, he will return to being a great shooter if he can sit in his spots. Having Murray back will help that.

HE PLAYED OUT OF POSITION ALL YEAR. he will be a good back up sg next year. Marco will have to go away

Pops own fault tbh. I'd rather die playing a rookie Lonnie walker and Derrick White down the stretch instead of dying with a 5'11 scrub who isn't gonna move the needle.

11%? Jesus

14% but who’s counting

Sample size is tiny and regular season was still around 40% career average, which is a great asset. But when you have a bunch of guys who can’t play defense, he’s redundant.

He won’t bring in value, but he won’t cost that much if anything to move. Maybe a swap of another team’s redundant piece.

I doubt anyone is dumb enough to actually want to trade for Mills, while at the same time I doubt the Spurs are smart, pragmatic, or unemotional enough to even consider trading Mills

I agree 100% with the statement above.

He just has too many limitations and we actually have some young guys next season that he might steal minutes from. Forbes out played Patty all season and he was 10 times better in the playoffs than Patty

Honestly the difference between 15 and 19 is so little, why would you do that especially considering how cheap Forbes is. Maybe the 29th pick but not the 19th

He was out of position on D all year, I'll give you that. If you're talking about the fact that he played PG, he's been out of position his whole career. He's not a PG, and he's too short as a SG, and he shot 11% from 3P in the playoffs. In fairness, he probably would have had a better 3P% if he could have sat out at the arc and waited for a pass - but maybe not.

The Nuggets were the best 3-point defending team in the league this year, weren't they? Still... c'mon, Pop.
