Do you think politicians should be allowed to earn money from investments, royalties and other sources aside from their full time salaries? Why or why not?

I think they should be allowed to work nights and weekends at any local restaurant.

Maybe Bernie should redistribute some of his royalties to the poor.

It's worth noting that the founding fathers essentially had this debate. Obviously, the minority was against politicians earning money from outside sources, else something would've been done.

But that was a different time and circumstances.

If you prohibit people in elective office from having an outside income, you've created a system in which only independently wealthy people can afford to be politicians. If you allow outside income to be earned you open the corruption sluice.

Keep it the way it is.

Get a heathy retirement plan ?
The only thing more they could do is let them stay on base then cut some pay because they claim they can not afford two houses. Like to know how many Americans can though!
