Having now read fifteen or twenty news stories about what a devastating blow the Lewis Libby indictment was to the administration, about how President Bush is "reeling" and the administration is "in turmoil," even "in crisis," and how Libby was a key and irreplaceable figure in the administration, whose departure is a serious blow because he played such a vital role, I couldn't help wondering: does anyone remember who Al Gore's chief of staff was when he was vice-president?

My guess is that the large majority of people who read these stories are asking themselves, "Scooter who?"

most Veeps are inconsequential, so most Veep's COS are unknown, invisible. WTF does that have to do with Libby?

dickhead has been secretly weilding lots of power and influence, esp in the dubya administrataion's defining centerpiece of foreign policy, the Repub Iraq war. He lied about it repeeadedly:

1. Saddam was connected to WTC attack
2. "no doubt" that Saddam as WMD

... and therefore was extremely active in defending his lies against truth-tellers like Shinsheki, Wilson, etc. It was dickhead's own activities with Libby that brought Libby into criminal activity and resulting notoriety.

dubya and dickhead fucked up badly in the Iraq war, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Keep trying spin it down. Then go read the the indictiment. Scooter is cooked, for perjury and obstruction of justice.

People tend not to remember those who were never indicted on crimes related to the leaking of classified information.

He was not indicted on that...

"We have not made any allegation that Mr. Libby knowingly, intentionally, outed a covert agent. We have not charged that."

He was not indicted on that...

Well, they haven't charged that, yet....

Libby threw sand in their eyes; stopping them from seeing the truth.
So the investigation goes on....

The jury is dismissed. It's over for now. Rove is clean, Cheney is clean..

The charge is not even as serious as Sandy Burgler stuffing classified 9/11 commission wanted documents into his socks. We still don't know what he stole document wise.

And he is conviced. Right now Libby is NOT convicted of any crime. He could very well walk. And he has a good 40% chance to walk based on prior similar cases like Hillary and Whitewater.

Gore chief of staff resigns
WASHINGTON (August 3) -- Vice President Al Gore's chief of staff has resigned to pursue a more lucrative career with a private law firm. Chief of Staff Ron Klain will be replaced by Gore's chief White House counsel and fellow Tennessean, Charles Burson. Klain has accepted a partnership in the Washington office of the Los Angeles-based law firm O'Melveny & Myers. Klain will continue to work with Gore's 2000 presidential campaign as "an uncompensated senior strategist" and participate in regular campaign strategy meetings and "take on special assignments" from campaign general chairman Tony Coelho, Gore said. As chief of staff, Burson will oversee the dozens of personnel who work at the White House for the office of the vice president, which encompasses Tipper Gore's staff as well.

It is completely unprecedented for someone to get a better job.
