"Don't Look Now", 1973, with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie was the most creepy, disturbing films I've ever seen. Took me a couple weeks to be alone in a house and not think of that little person running around.

http://www.moria.co.nz/horror/dontlooknow.htm

Donald, always a creepy, freaky, unhinged type anyway, was perfectly cast, and Julie was at the peak of her beauty.

Barbara Hershey getting raped by the devil in The Entity was pretty cool, sometimes scary.

Demon Seed where Julie Christie is impregnated by demon semen, very creepy.

Rosemary's Baby, esp with Cassavettes, was creepy as "hell". :)

In the last few years, the special effects have taken over and given "scary" movies a comic book feel, hard to be very scared.

Is Saw scary?

I just saw the second part. It's not as great as the first one but still freaky. Plenty of blood and gore.. yuk! I like movies that give me chills!! Blair Witch Project is one of those.. you hear kids crying in the middle of night when you're in the middle of nowhere. That freaks me out!!! Freddie scares the hell out of me too b/c he comes alive through your dreams!! :wow

Anyone remember Candyman? I saw that movie when I was like 5 and i couldn't sleep for so many nights!! I hate that movie!!!!

I'm not a huge horror fan, but I found The Ring more disgusting and silly than disturbing and scary.

I'm with Solid D, being that I attempted to watch The Exorcist late at night for the very first time and was unable to. I watched it, THE NEXT DAY, with the lights on.

Being that my religious beliefs allowed for this, I couldn't separate the fiction from the firm reality that I believed this could happen.

Truth is always scary.

Halloween is my all-time favorite scary movie. Especially the scene where, in the middle of the night and it's raining, they drive up to the front entrance to that mental hospital and there are people walking around in the yard, supposedly patients....:wow
and then that music plays. I love the theme song to Halloween, scary as shit.

The Exorcist

The only movie that made me lose sleep, and I did for weeks. I will still not watch it when I see it on HBO, I just pass right by it.

Some movies that altered my lifestyle:

Jaws-never wanted to go to beach after this movie

Psycho-never wanted to take a shower with a shower curtain again

Fatal Attraction- Was very careful in who I might want to have an affair with.:)

:lol come on, it scared me. I don't like these hollywood special effects, all blood and guts movies. You don't get the real scare factor, but when a movie works on your senses, like the Blair witch project did with that one scene, its eery. At least for me. Makes you afraid of whats actually lurking in the dark. I didn't want to be alone even to go to the bathroom after I saw that movie. Its probably not the same anymore but dangit if I couldn't even get that image of the guy standing in the corner out of my head either. It freaked me out.
Now BW part 2, that just plain sucked.

i am a bit ignorant on the subject.
