I'm not sure if it us the worst trade in NBA history. The Russell and Chamberlin trades might trump it

But without question, it is the worst trade the Spurs have ever made. It is so bad it is embarrassing. This trade rivals the idiocy of Ted Steptin at Cleveland or Sterling at LAC.

Nah. The Abdul-Jabbar trade from the Bucks to the Fakers was worse. The Bucks dropped from NBA champs and perennial contenders to having a losing record for 4 of the next 5 years. Jabbar demanded a trade either to the Knicks or the Fakers because he wanted to be in a culture more friendly to black muslims.

1. The guy didn't want to play for the Spurs anymore and made it public
