This has caused a stir over apparent “censorship.” The boy’s mother believes it was a political statement by the yearbook, and the staff says it was a “mistake.”

I can picture a few possibilities here:



The mother is correct, and the yearbook staff was attempting to censor the MAGA hat as a move against the teen and his views.
The yearbook staff may have deliberately censored the hat, but it could have been to protect the MAGA hat-wearing teen from harassment.
Perhaps the yearbook staff were messing around, and someone blurred the hat as a joke. Then it went to press without anyone noticing (thus being indeed a mistake).
