This is how PATFO should have handled the Kawhi saga. New Orleans learned from PATFO's mistakes and are handling their own drama the right way.

New Orleans Pelicans (http://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/no/new-orleans-pelicans) star Anthony Davis (http://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/6583/anthony-davis) and David Griffin discussed the new executive vice president's vision for the franchise over breakfast in Los Angeles on Wednesday, league sources told ESPN.

Davis, who requested a trade in January, and Griffin, who was hired in April, are expected to continue a dialogue in the near future, sources said.

Additional conversations about Davis' future may be largely focused between Griffin and Davis' agent, Rich Paul, who also attended Wednesday's meeting, sources said.

Davis, 26, can become a free agent next summer, but Griffin has been determined on selling him on the Pelicans through a new prism. New Orleans plans to draft Duke's Zion Williamson (http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4395628/zion-williamson) with the No. 1 overall pick, and Griffin has made strides with hires in his front office, medical and training staff and practice facility improvements.

Davis is eligible to sign a five-year, $235.5 million supermax contract extension on July 1.

New Orleans could have eager trade suitors -- the Los Angeles Lakers (http://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/lal/los-angeles-lakers) and Clippers (http://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/lac/la-clippers), Boston Celtics (http://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/bos/boston-celtics) and New York Knicks (http://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/ny/new-york-knicks) -- should Griffin engage in trade talks, but so far that hasn't happened, sources said. Griffin has been determined to make a case for Davis to stay.

Key word is dialogue. It’s needed on both sides.
Spurs wanted to talk, kawhi didn’t, at least not without his group.

Maybe something could have happened if pop had a true one on one with kawhi without anyone meddling.being able to maybe spend the day together and just talk about whatever. Getting to the bottom of the issue. but it’s impossible with the uncle right there in his ear.

imagine trying to talk to your girlfriend who wants to break up with you, and your trying to plead your case to her but you are only able to do it at her parents house with her parents sitting next to her. Oh and her parents want you gone as well.

That's pretty much how Pop handled Kawhi.

Nothing is done yet
Also if spurs got the number one pick in draft could help

Yeah, the amount of revisionist history going with Leonard right now is astounding.

Agree ....

Pop was never able to have dialogue with Kwahi. That was the problem. Him and his camp made him unavailable. He cut off the Spurs during the summer when he was China if I remember correctly. They were talking essentially through the media at best.

and like ducks noted, the #1 pick incoming is quite a bit different from having a Wombat as your appointed leader.

Pop had a dialogue with Kawhi (not sure if alone or with his group). Reports say it lasted 10 minutes. Nothing he could do. Spurs even wanted to send Duncan, but Kawhi didn't want to meet with anybody

Agreed.. Looks like they'll dangle the super max out there at the least and see if he's any more willing to talk

When will people get it through their head that he and his Uncle just didn't want to be here anymore?

Another fucktard creates a new account to post a lot of nothing in a new thread, when it would have fit just fine in the existing nearly-300 page thread about Kawhi.
