Any good, cheap options? I had Spectrum but after my promotional offer ended they jacked up the price by $25. Threatening to cut service has worked before to help bring the price back down but this time they were just like "ok bye". It's been two days without home WiFi and I'm dying, tbh. They say I have to be without service with them for 30 days before they can offer promotional prices again, so I either need to go another route or find something to hold me over until the 30 days are up. I dont need crazy speeds...really only stream Netflix a few times a week, xbox occasionally, watch a lot of Youtubes, GF watches shows on demand sometimes.

In San Antonio I'd expect you will find neither good nor cheap internet with so little competition.

You probably don't want AT&T though. Those cocksuckers put you on a 250GB monthly cap, or at least did last year when I checked last. Or get it waived by paying $30 a month more so it's more expensive than Spectrum or by bundling with TV. Spectrum only doesn't have data caps because Obama's FCC made them sign a contract to not impose caps for seven years as a condition for the Time Warner + Charter = Spectrum merger to go through. But once 2023 rolls around Spectrum will become just as bad as Comcast if Google Fibre isn't established here by then.

Might wanna check if your area has Google Fiber. It's been rolling out through the city.

You may be fucked. I'd avoid AT&T. If you are on the far north side (outside of AT&T's service area) GVTC is available, but it isn't cheap. You can also price out/check availability for Grande, but I don't know anything about them.

This tbh.

You need higher speeds to watch your tranny porn in 4K OP?

Hasn't the rollout been at a snail's pace though? :pctoss

Spectrum is now training their reps to not offer a second promotion, but I'm about 4 months into the proof that they can still do it. I had two front line CSR's deny they could offer me any help after the previous promotion expired.. I get transferred to the 2nd one's supervisor.. she say's no chance as well. I tell the supervisor I want to disconnect, then she gets angry and says she has to transfer to another dept. for disconnects, and made sure to throw in how "I won't be getting any promotion" even though I'm being transferred.. 5 minutes later my bill is back on a promotion, and they doubled my speed to 400 Mbps :lol..

Just gotta be persistent and get the right rep who isn't tatted up with Spectrum and Time Warner tats.. If you can get Grande or Google Fiber, both are good and reasonable cost. Fuck AT&T that company sucks dick and their service is constantly out.

No, they're going neighborhood by neighborhood over here. The service area is growing fast.

The previous year they budged. This time I've tried three times with no luck. Even tried in Spanish. :lol

It's really ass backwards how they do that shit though. Theyre like "hey you've been a loyal customer for 5 years, here's a price hike!". That's why I ditched cable with them but options are much more limited with internet. I doubt that Google fiber has made it to the dirty SE side but I'll have to look into that, tbh.

If they want to play hardball, then play hardball. Switch back and forth between companies and take advantage of new customer pricing as needed. I have about 8 months left on my promotion then it jumps up like 40 bucks.. Then I'll threaten with Google Fiber and ultimately switch if I have to. Where there is a will there is a way w/ Spectrum though, it's all based on trigger words they are trained to listen for that allow them to offer certain promos to savvy customers.

As for Google Fiber down there w/ the dirties.. I think their only installing on the NW side right now

Nah they’re installing in the NE side too and I’ve heard they’ve set up around the downtown area as well.

If there is no Google Fiber in the area (all the Spectrum rep has to do is check his address on their site) then they know he has nowhere else to go. No one is leaving Spectrum for AT&T with internet only with a 250GB cap there. You have Google available so they know they have competition.

AT&T changed that cap for any of their Fiber tiers.. product still sucks

Is it gone or did they just double it or something?

I believe it's gone now for Fiber 1000 customers only.. lesser tiers have a 750 GB cap
