Naz Reid

School: LSU
Position: C
Age: 19
Height: 6-foot-9.5
Weight: 255.8
Wingspan: 7-foot-3.25
Draft Range: Second Round
Combine Results? Yes (https://stats.nba.com/draft/combine-anthro/)

Why: Long-armed center who is comfortable out on the perimeter. Handles and passes better than expected. Shooting touch is promising for a center: 33.3% on threes (5.1 attempts per 100 possessions) and 72.7% at the line as a freshman. Has the body to bang in the post and his effort level is consistent.

Why Not: Not much of an athlete at all. Doesn't jump well and while he's fluid, he's not fast. Underwhelming rebounder. Doesn't block many shots. His forays out on the perimeter lead to a lot of turnovers. Registered the highest body fat at the combine by far at 14%. Old for a freshman.

Spurs Fit: Keep him away from Whataburger while in Austin. Hope he slims down and hope that slimmer body results in newfound athleticism. In two or three years, he might be a backup center.

Spurs Comparison - Ceiling: DeJuan Blair with a jumper

Spurs Comparison - Floor: Jackie Butler

Not bad if he slips to 49. Not worth otherwise...

A bit undersized for a center.

He's more PF than a C, reminds me Drew Gooden...

He is a talented offensive guy who is sliding and could be a steal as a late first or secound round. All depends on is work ethic.

Maybe in Austin he may be able to, but once back in SA. Its game over.

The height doesn't bother me considering he's got that nice wingspan. His standing reach is just an inch and a half shorter than Jaxson Hayes, who's probably the top center prospect and potential top-10 pick. All comes down to work ethic with this dude.

Watching the game he had against Florida in the SEC tournament made it seem like he was a lottery pick... 8 of 16 from deep, felt like he couldn’t miss and was dominating the game (which they lost in OT I think). A lot will depend on his work ethic and if he can slim down.

Boy, we're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel, aren't we?
