Should’ve retired a Spur.

Yeah, reading the article, it sounds like playing in Charlotte kind of jaded him because he ultimately knew they couldn't compete at the highest level.

Not sure how different that would have been in San Antonio, but he still would have gotten to play due to the injuries to Murray and White.

According to reports, San Antonio offered the same, but Tony didn't want to ride the bench.

Ironically, he ended up riding the bench for the last quarter of his season in Charlotte anyways.

Can't really put much stock into those two series vs. the Warriors without Kawhi. They were simply on another level.

I'd dare to say that the Spurs beat the Nuggets if they had Parker this year, though.

I agree.

And for history's sake, here's what Tony had to say on it: "When there is talk about the best point guards, sometimes they don't talk about me. But that's not my main motivation. They can talk about Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Deron Williams and Chris Paul. I still have the most rings."-Tony Parker

Will be there at the jersey retirement for sure... Yep! It'll be great. Manu's was like going to a championship game. Place was rockin'! People that don't think TP will receive a huge crowd and ovation are out of touch.

Will be interesting to see if Tony is remembered as being greater than someone like Chris Paul. I certainly think he will!
Four good reason!

The clutchest 50 seconds in Spurs history and one of the clutchest 50 seconds in NBA history, tbh. Game-tying three-pointer, amazing defensive play, go-ahead shot in the lane. Unfortunately, a couple dudes choked at the line but that level of clutchness in a championship moment could only really be rivaled by MJ vs the Jazz, tbh.

What I'll also miss about TP is he was the ultimate Spurs fan litmus test. It was easy to figure out which fans were only really fans because someone on the team hablar espanol or they decided to bandwagon midstream ... and those fans who had been around for the lean years. I've never heard of a long-time Spurs fan hate TP -- but that was almost a prerequisite for New Age Spurs fans, tbh. You could do nothing but cherish the TP years after living through the point guard nightmares previously (for example, 95 year old Terry Porter starting at PG the previous season). When AJ was a high water mark of point guard play before the TP arrived, you know your franchise is one that was thirsting for good point guard play :lol

So, Tony's HOF class should be him, DWade, maybe Melo? Who else is retiring this year? Possibly Manu could be in that class, if somehow he isn't first ballot (which would be a disgrace, but knowing the media indifference to the Spurs, could happen.)

There's definitely truth to that. I thought the media leaks during the Kawhi fiasco seemed pretty deliberate, which was un-Spurs like. I think this group just wasn't accustomed to dealing with a situation like that one and probably made their own share of mistakes along the way.

Melo should sign a 10 day next year to avoid having to be inducted with those three (Tony Wade Dirk) who all won titles and Finals MVPs.

I want Manu to be a first ballot and he almost certainly will be. But would be cool seeing the two go in together.
