I actually think all this will serve as more motivation for the Spurs. At least it should. They shouldn't need more motivation, but they should use it. Especially Derozan if he's on the roster next season.

It's one thing for Nephew to be arrogant, since he is a generational talent afterall. But I fucking hate when people in someone's group get a big head just bc they have some association with a great player. That goes for Uncle, Lavar, and Irving's dad too.

This is what the league has come to. Players parading on social media or whining to the media about nonsense shit just so they can bounce to a different team. This is just how it is. Players can say whatever they want on snapchat, IG, Twitter, etc, but can't even communicate with their own coach like men without their uncle daddy sitting next to them. You can give Kawhi any positive adjective you want, but he's still a pussy in my eyes, just like every other player. Being a mute retard doesn't make him less of a pussy either.

sticking to basketball stuff for real FVV or whatever his name is has some pair to say something as disrespectful one to a legendary coach and two to a 76 year old man in general. Who is this guy anyway a guy who went undrafted that got lucky cause he got into a zone because his wife sprung out a baby??? He will hit reality again soon and be a scrub you can only ride kawitter said coat tails so long. I would love to see how effective he is if kawitter bolts. Either way enjoy it now cast off hope you never need anything from pop.

also it shows anyone against kawitter has been right this whole time...he has no class loyalty or respect for anyone but his fake father. Good riddance man and I wish the mod from this board would block any kawitter threads lol.

But seriously classless stuff by Toronto.

Should've been 2-0 against them if it wasnt for DeRozan's dumbass. I don't think they're some unbeatable juggernaut just because they beat a Durbeta+Klay-less GS.

Part of me wants Neph to sign a short term deal with TOR so Pop can have a shot at him. That would be the ultimate revenge. That assumes Pop gets his head out of his ass and drafts/signs guys that would help the team not over rely on lower level guys likes Forbes, Wombat and Belli though.

I do not believe he hates Popovich, but he is equal to 100% of the players in NBA history (except Duncan), they all want credit for their achievements, but playing in San Antonio, any conquest will have Pop as the biggest responsible (see Phill Jackson who has 11 championships, but receives much less credit), and absolutely no player accepts this, all the stars of the league love Pop as a coach and person, but when FA no one comes to play here, Aldrige came because of his son imo.

Definitely FVV trolling. First whispers to Castleberry to start yelling about Kawhi to Lakers, then yells "Fuck Pop!" off camera and swings it to show Kawhi having a good time right after it was said. Doubt Kawhi even heard it, though not sure he'd care if he did. Basically trolling Lakers and Spurs fans/organizations.

Seriously the only thing any Spurs fan should hate about Pop is his stubbornness with the roster and rotation. The dude is a great coach. People were saying it was Buldenhozer that was the real reason for the success yet Buldenholzer got backdoor swept. You give Pop that same Milwaukee team and I think they win. Like I said there's a lot to dislike about Pop's roster choices but he did nothing wrong regarding Kawhi.

Toronto only averages 80-100 homicides a year. That's one of the safest big cities in North America. Chicago gets that in like 3 months.

Somewhere along the line Kawhi and camp started playing victim. He's mentioned being traded almost every time he's spoken publicly since winning the championship. Like he was done wrong.

You asked to get out of San Antonio and got what you wanted now enjoy your championship and leave Pop and Spurs out of it.

There was no need for FVV to say what he did but it doesn't get to me since the NBA has become a WWE type of league when it comes to these shenanigans. What FVV did is something you would see on Monday Night raw after a rival wins the heavyweight belt.

What I wanna know is what Pop did to Kawhi that made him hate him enough to talk shit about him to his teammates. From what I've heard, Kawhi's antipathy towards Spurs management has never extended to Pop.

I not sure where the animosity comes from though he may feel disrespect from the not a leader comment (taken out of context) or feel the Spurs made him out to be a quitter.

I did have a interesting conversation with my Co worker who is very tied in to the Magic organization whose current GM has close ties to Raptors FO. We had been talking back and forth on Kawhi last couple weeks. He had a conversation this past weekend and while there was no direct info regarding Kawhi/Pop relationship someone related a time they spoke with JSimmons after coming over to Magic.

JSimmons talked about how Pop was great but there were a group of players who did what they were asked but had issues with Pop. The specific things he mentioned were Pop treating players differently and not based on star VS role player, but he had his favorites, and who played wasn't always based on merit and some guys felt they were capable of doing more to help win but had to fall in line. (which is somewhat true of any team/coach I think).

The other interesting thing was he talked about Pop's politics, not from a standpoint of these guys being repubs or necessarily disagreeing with Pop (though he did said he knew JSimms wasn't a fan of taxes :) ) but it was more along the lines that JSimms wasn't "woke" and didn't care to be. He said there was a group of players that wanted to play basketball, give back as they saw fit, and didn't really care about political stuff and that wasn't OK with Pop. I don't have an exact quote but Simmons said something along the lines of told "a grown ass real nig**r doesn't need an old ass cracker telling him about how his people suffered and what he should be doing about it. I wanna play basketball and take care of my family". Again not a exact qoute, but what this guy remembered. Now JSimms never mentioned Kawhi but definitely said he wasn't the only one who felt this way

He's not wrong though. That's exactly my issue with Pop too. You're not a politician, you're a damn basketball coach. Go out there and preach that. Also we know he plays favorites. Just like how Mills can do all kinds of fuck ups yet is still in Pop's good graces but when LDN made one mistake, Pop would give him a hard time and bench him.

I think by in large, the embodiment of spurs fans are tired of Pop the politician and just want a hungry head basketball coach. His legacy would’ve been so much better had he retired with Tim...like he said he would...but his ego and taste for being in the spotlight wouldn’t let him.

The funny thing is I can believe Simmons most likely felt and said the comments posted of course without using the "ER" on the N- word.

He most likely felt he wasn't getting playing time due to Pop having favorites, even Stephen Jackson brought up the playing time stuff on television. The funny thing about that though is both players who complained about wanting bigger roles and more playing time were really not good enough to back up their complaints. Lol. Both times the Spurs did the right thing letting Jackson walk and Simmons is a low efficiency ball hog. Funny enough kind of like Jackson was. Lol.

As far as Pop's so called politics and such I can again see Simmons having the mindset of fuck all that because of where he came from and how he got to the NBA. There is alot of people who are out for themselves and those around them and that's it. Which is fine, in my opinion but I understand where Pop is coming from when he looks at people with money, power and influence should try to do more to help their communities.

A lot of people who "make it" forget that a lot of folks help them get to where they are and everyone needs assistance every now and then.

Defend himself? Pop was the aggressor all last season and the beginning of this season... Throwing shade to Kawhi in press conferences and then this season saying he isn't a leader... Now Kawhi is on top ppl wanna act like pop has been the silent victim?

I don't like Pop much at all. But Kawhi faked an injury period. So you can keep twisting it into whatever you want. It will never change that Kawhi faked an injury to force a trade and quit on his team that rightfully called out his bs.

Pop from the 2000s wasn't like that. He wasn't a submissive bitch. He had players hip check opponents, step under their feet, etc. Pop from back then had dirty tricks in his arsenal and tried to win at all costs. Somebody didn't perform in the playoffs? They got shipped out. But now ever since he went with this "all class" approach and "getting over yourself", "loyalty contracts" and "things more important than basketball" he's pissing me off. You can't win titles with that submissive loser ideology

meh, if the 'getting over yourself' thing is an culture issue, then the blame goes to TD, Manu, and TP too

Jonathan Simmons =/= Kawhi Leonard

You can tell Jon to stop shooting and low ball him, but hoping Kawhi is limited to being a 20 point, 30 mpg player to make LaMatouches happy, then giving Fatty 50 mill is a different matter altogether.

Pop treats some fairly, others he plays favorites with, and others thinks he can mold them into whatever the hell he wants with that outdated military style while hogging all the credit himself. It isn't going to fly in today's NBA.

as limited as simmons is, spurs shouldve kept him instead of the overrated vets on their way out

the year the spurs made wcf against the rockets, they had david lee, simmons, dedmon, david west, let all of them walked
the following year summer, they let more younger guys go for nothing
basically half of the roster that was on that wcf run all got dealt

fck the spurms patfo getting rid of the young core that was meant to be built around kawhi, only to pissed him off with the continuing signing of vets on loyalty deals

From the outside looking in it's always seemed like Pop was big picture kind of person. We've all heard him say there are things in life bigger than basketball or a persons individual accomplishments. I think this way of thinking does get the most out of players. It's what turns a D-League player into a starter or rotation player for an nba championship. It's not the only way of running a franchise or business but it's what has most worked for the Spurs, so why would we go away from it. I know there are some players who's thoughts are, "fuck this shit I just want to play basketball", I'm sure most fans think this way as well. Some players are good enough to play in whatever the hell environment they want to and still succeed, Kawhi Leonard. But fringe rotation players do not do well in the type of environment that is, BASKETBALL MATTERS AND NOTHING ELSE. Nor do stars, only the truly elite can dictate the environment of the team and still succeed.
