View Full Version : I don't get why "SPAM" was ever such a big deal, tbh?

Yes, SPAM was a bigtime Spurs underdog outcry, but it really only applied to 1999, 2003, 2007, 2012 (despite the end result that year) and 2014. For each of those years, there were other years like 2002, 2006, 2011 (most notably those three) and 2016 and 2017 where the Spurs peaked too early and flamed out down the stretch. Even during the Duncan era, if you count all the years and not just the best/championship years, I don't think there was really a significant difference in win percentage month to month.

Prove me wrong? Discuss...

I don't think the SPAM battlecry was even "invented" until 2004 (Ed Helicopter Jones would know for sure). And I don't think it's even been used much since 2012 or so.

The big spam outcry died down when the filters on email got better.
