Since he has added a decent 3 ball he would be a nice fit for us. Not sure we can afford him though tbh

He makes his team better. He is the anti-Derozan. No flashy stats, but his team is 10 pts better per 100 possessions with him on the floor. I don't know if you can get him for the MLE, but if so it seems like a no-brainer.

Saw him up close last season. He impressed me. Very good defense that night and looked good on offense. Timvp, however, informed me that his effort isn't always there though.

Aminu is pretty good for what he is: a defensive combo forward who can play an off-ball role, give energy most of the time and shoot threes at a decent rate.

But, yeah, he's extremely inconsistent. Probably one of the most inconsistent players in the league. And he was so bad against the Warriors in the playoffs that the Blazers basically had to stop playing him in order to stop the bleeding.

IMO, I don't think he's a good value signing unless he could be had at a Belinelli level contract. Doesn't have much upside outside of the sporadic games where he teases that he has finally put it all together. Has to be surrounded by offensive talent or else he becomes a liability on that end. Good defensively but not good enough to hide his warts.

I think at this point, an inconsistent 3-D guy is worth it if for just the D alone with guys like Bertans, Fatty and others on the floor. This team needs a bench guy who can guard 2-4 position.

Solid piece for an actual contender. Which sadly Spurs are not. But fills a need. But we have no roster room.

With the addition of Instagram Baller, a 3&D guy, the development of White+Walker, and GS breaking down we are as much of a contender as anyone else, imho.

Landing him would be about as much of a home run as we’re gonna get unless a blockbuster trade happened (not gonna happen)

The only questions that really matter about a FA are:

1) Are they better defensively than whom SA already has?
2) How much of a trade off on offense does that defense bring?
3) Will it take a longer term deal (3+ years) in order to secure said player and if so are they worth losing cap space/flexibility for?

Contract of 7 mil last season.

Very durable last season. Played in 81 games, 28 min/gm.

Rebounding stats are interesting. His rebounding stats for O, D, and total are almost identical for the last three seasons.

Prob my top semi-realistic FA target tbh. Just entered his prime, is a good wing defender, and has become a decent 3-pt shooter. Don’t think it happens but he’d be an asset.

Black Mr. Potatohead, TBH.

He takes shots right at the rim, and from the 3P line. Almost never in between. Nearly 100% of his 3-pointers are assisted. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone with a higher percentage of assisted 3's. He has to be on the floor with playmakers.

He played in 81 games as a rookie, and has been getting solid minutes ever since. I don't like to overuse stats, but he's had a positive VORP every year since that rookie season. He's not exciting, but he's going to be a solid contributor on any team he goes to.

Can the Spurs afford him? With all the teams that have a chunk of cap space, the ones who miss out on big names are going to look him up. If he waits around until the early money dries up, he might be within reach. But that means the Spurs have to wait around, too.

Alex Kennedy: Al-Farouq Aminu is drawing interest from the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers, (https://hoopshype.com/social/) according to league sources. –

He can switch to guard 3's and some guards too, right? Looked pretty competent at that from what I've seen.

He only somewhat makes sense for them if they plan to trade Gordon for guard help. Otherwise, this is a terrible signing.
