:lol how could you get completely blown out of a series by a team from a broke dilapidated rust belt city with no stars vs. your 4 stars? :lol

Uh, they played better than our squad. Not that hard to fathom. It happens.

That Detroit team was really good. I remember Bill Russell picked them to win before the series started, going against conventional wisdom.

Good thread Andrew.

The boys in yellow let the Larry O go East for the first time since the GOAT quit the Bulls.
Good thing the Spurs were there to take it back the next year.

Wow. The old man comes back for a couple of days and already got some of you twisted and copycatting threads... I don't think I've read any of his posts all the way through yet since he's been back.

The games weren't even close, not even close, aside from Game 4 in which Detroit still won fairly comfortably enough. The only one you managed to squeak out, required an absolute miracle and an OT to boot. :lol

We were fortunate to win that one Finals v. them when Jabbar hit those ft's. They were mighty pissed over that, especially Laimbeer.

He forgot to mention that Detroit was consistently up 25 or so in games against two "superstars".

:lmao No way that ever would've happened to MJ and Pip / Bird and McHale / Duncan and Manu. :lmao

Ref intervention, actually. It truly was a a five-game sweep.

Two superstars in their prime + two superstars past their prime = 4 superstars.

Not sure if any of Billups, Hamilton, Prince, Sheed, Big Ben, McDyess etc. make the HOF.

This was legendary series

From 95 Rockets (lowest seed that won/Drexler trade) til the Pistons in 2004; the same dominant teams won

Lakers backed by Kobe's 33 points salvaged the opening two games at home. The Lakers flipped the playoff switch

Pistons would proceed to run the Lakers off the floor and Shaq out of town......

Shaq traveled back to the Eastern Conference to challenge Detroit and eventually in 2006 eliminate them.
