I would normally say the Lakers would trade the farm to get him but they have nothing left to give. They gave up all their draft picks in the Davis trade.

I think they still have some left, and the Rockets don't have much leverage anyway... they can always take back Kuzma

So you've given up your quest for another ring and have settled on reminiscing? I still think the Lakers have a chance. They just have to bring in the right person and that's not Westbrook. They would have been better to reach out to D'angelo Russell before he went to the Warriors. With the salaries today and everyone wanting to get the maximum, building a super team is team is very difficult so you they have to find a diamond in the Ruff, Unfortunately they traded all their options away for that. Ricky Rubio might be available.

You could be right but still it will take haul to get him since his contract is huge. The Lakers have no contracts they could use to trade for him. Granted they could get a third team involved.

Say what? Max salaries are the reason you can build a superteam. You couldn't do it twenty years ago with Jordan taking up 5/4 of the salary cap or Ewing taking up 3/4 of it. Now with players limited to 30-35% of the cap there is no reason they wouldn't try to team up to field superteams.

Exactly, without max contracts Lebron would be getting 50+ million a year and his team wouldn't be able to bring in someone like Anthony Davis. Durant also never goes to Golden State if Oklahoma City is able to offer significantly more money rather than simply 1 more on year on a max deal that KD was going to opt out of either way.

You can have 3 high salary guys but you cannot have 5 of them. So you have to have complimentary players and these guys are getting paid as well these days. Danny Green just signed for 15m a year. Sure he's a starter but it's going to be interesting to see who else they can shoehorn into that team. Of course the uber wealthy Lakers can pay luxury tax.

It's interesting that everyone has dismissed the Warriors, almost completely. They still have Steph.

Westbrook still has 4 years and $170 million left meaning he has the 3rd worst contract in the league behind Wall and CP3. Only thing he is good at this point is taking shots away from better scorers.

Just Kuzma + draft picks located toward the mid-2020's. I don't imagine Silver would look kindly on trading those & we can't afford to have him tell us 'no' out loud.

No. They wouldn't let us even if we tried. We'd be humiliated. Silver doesn't want to do such a thing, but, if we force him, he'll do it & then we can't take it back.

I know I lament it constantly, but, we can't get comfortable in these new shoes of doing everything like everybody else does it. We're used to being special. It's like a drug habit. You can't just stop cold turkey. You have to get a cure. But, first you have to admit to your malady. We've never done that. We just took the news, internalized it and staggered out into the daylight. We've been staggering ever since.
