The rare trade that makes both teams worse :lol but if OKC nails their drafts, they’ll be scary in 5 years.

Nailing drafts is spectacularly difficult even for the best talent evaluators. Presti should have gotten more for taking Paul. I don't see how losing Chris Paul can make a team worse. He's almost like a pariah now with that deal, his declining skills, and shitty attitude.

And Presti dropped the fucking ball letting Morey off the hook. He had all the leverage. He should have bled Morey dry like he did to the Clippers.

They did well to get what they got, imo. The Heat and the Rockets were the only teams in the running for Russ, and Riley wasn't going to give them anything.

Morey had no other options though. He could not go into the season with Harden and Paul on a roster together. A third 1st round pick is what Presti should have demanded.

I give Houston credit here, because they are really taking their last best shot to win a championship with Harden. He has 3 years left and an option on his deal.. CP3 is washed up, they needed another co-star with some firepower. This does that. But 2 selfish guys that need the ball, could also be a complete disaster. However they were going nowhere next season with CP3 and Harden pissed at each other, and CP3 stinking out the joint. So they took a chance...

CP3 was as an immovable contract as there has ever been in the history of the league and somehow Houston moved it. Westbrook has a horrible contract too but he is 4 years younger and should be less injury prone. Just getting rid of CP3 in and of itself is a miracle and a win.

D’antoni probably quits by the ASB. I say play Westbrook first and third quarters only. Harden second and fourth quarters only. Even though that would never happen, that might be the most effective way in order to get the most out of each guy.

A lot of those pick swaps won't apply barring severe injuries, and nearly all of the picks they traded for will be 1st rounders in the mid to upper 20s or 30. Calm down. This isn't the NFL; most of these NBA players picked in the 20s end up as role players for a few years and then out of the league.

The "own" picks will be high, but they already would have been without the trades.

Nicca I never trashed Bron.
I said he needed to win more titles... To be considered GOAT which was true.
I also was one of the few that argued he had a shot at Goat still when many wrote him off in 2011.
I also placed Bron over Bird before the win over State as the GOAT SF when many on here still try to argue to this day...
Me knocking the chokes in 2010 and 2011 or arguing he wasn't better than Tim/Achilles etc sitting on zero or one ring... Are all fair arguments despite the team accomplishments narrative on here idgaf.
I was raised you gotta at least get close in ring count to he considered greater than someone in te Goat debates (Horry don't count).
At 3-6 tough to make Brin a goat case... But he rings for three different teams hus case is far more compelling. He has passed Tim and Achilles though..

And he is much much much better than CP3. This may be a mess but Rockets had to take a chance. Harden is 30. They were not going anywhere next season standing pat.. Even more talent spreads out in the league. This went from a possible mess with Lakers putting together another stupid ass Super-Team to talent spread out in the league more than ever.. Good move.. Hell if the players had their way

then again, NBA salary cap back then wasn't tailored to really allow 3 prime superstars to play for the same team at market value... even if all of Horry/Fisher/Fox/George/Shaw/Walker/Slava had taken vet min deals not sure it would have been possible.

This deal only happened because Harden and Russ both wanted it to happen. 0% chance Morey wouldve made the deal if they had no relationship prior. So OBVIOUSLY they'll be fine with the stat padding battles :lol

The ball distribution thing -- I mean Houston literally has 2 plays in their playbook- Westbrook high PNR, Harden ISO. They'll stagger it for 48 minutes :lol

Russ is a horrendous shooter, but, if you put Harden Gordon Green Tucker all at the 3 point line he doesn't need to shoot jumpers anymore

What does the pick swap mean? Do they have the option to choose/use their own pick or swap it for either Houston's or LA Clippers picks? For example the 2025 pick swaps, can someone explain how that might work? If OKC only has one first round pick that year, would that mean they can only swap with either Houston or LA Clippers, but not both?

I'll ask again, how do 'pick swaps' work? Is OKC the team that gets to choose which pick they get that season? For example, in 2023, if the Clippers have a higher pick, do they just simply swap their pick and give their pick to the Clippers and get to take the Clippers pick instead? When do they have to decide by? Before the season or before the draft?

The way I understand it, let's say after the 20-21 season, OKC and Houston have picks. Houston ends up with a lottery pick. OKC ends up with #24. OKC has the right to swap their #24 pick with Houston's lottery pick. This would happen even if Houston's lottery pick was as high as #1 overall, which would he hilariously funny :lmao

If Westbrook finally realizes how to calm the fuck down and be the second fiddle and with iggy or Covington rockets can have a good team. Harden needs to step up for reals this year and they might have a legitimate chance at a chip.

But da ball hog lol
:lol

Capela got better from his second year to his third year, something not uncommon nor surprising after a young player first gets significant playing time. He’s been essentially the same exact offensive player the last three seasons. Any statistical improvement he’s made season to season has been directly related to increased minutes played. He’s not getting better, at least in any significant level. Even eye test, it’s not like playing next to Harden has allowed Capela to expand his offense in any tangible way beyond pick-and-roll lay-ups and dunks and transition rim runs. He’s not developing into a reliable low post scorer. He’s not expanding his jumpshot range. He doesn’t get the ball in the high post to isolate or facilitate. He’s still only a run the court in transition to beat his defender for a dunk and pick-and-roll finisher. In fact, his shot attempts per minute has actually gone down each of the last two seasons, as he was “getting better offensively.”

But he has played more minutes from season to season. So if James Harden is responsible for Capela’s playing time, I guess you can give him credit for that.
