View Full Version : UberEats Delivery on Bicycles

Has anyone else experienced this fucking bullshit? I just ordered UberEats and the delivery is going to take a half hour because some poor ghetto bitch on her bike was selected as the driver. I would have just gone to pick it up myself over waiting for her to complete a 5 mile long bike ride.

I get this from time to time when ordering Chinese. Now thankfully they're not all that far away but too long for a casual walk.

Even still sometimes I would get the food and it's all sweaty because the heat has nowhere to go.

Cant imagine what a 3-4 mile trip on a bike would do to your food.

Yup I ordered a jamba juice a long time ago when I was moving and it arrived half empty and the small size, with juice spilled all over the side n shit. Learned my lesson quick

That's in no way relevant. I felt lazy and paid extra for a service to have my meal delivered. I didn't get the service I paid for, plain and simple.

Sorry that you're BB&B paycheck doesn't allow for the simple luxuries of having food delivered when you don't feel like cooking or going out.

Seems like there would be some cases where a bike would be faster then a car.
Urban. Or even semi spread out areas with a bunch of annoying stop lights.
Seems like a good biker could ride and maneuver faster, or at least as fast as a car.

Yeah in fucking New York City sure, but not a 5 mile bike ride in Dallas, 3 miles of which would be freeway driving with no lights if you had a car.

Nope, and after she gets this brain surgery she'll be back to fit and no more insulin shots within a few months, else I'll proceed with the divorce docs, already got that shit locked up :lol

She's always cooked since we were first together/married in 2016. We never eat fast food and we'll go out to eat together like, 5 times per year.

To be honest though in DFW specifically there are some places where you have to take back roads to avoid tolls.

But riding a bike would never be faster, even assuming there's consistent sidewalks (which there usually isn't around here because it's car-centric)... not to mention the commotion from the bike would always ruin the food, especially in this heat, unless it's like bags of chips or something.

Yeah be like the Gen Xers and boomers who go out to a restaurant and sit and stare at their phones without talking with the people around them.

25 year old Millennial, I was the kid who always liked to go out and eat and just enjoy the ambiance, the service, and the experience of eating there. Why would I ever need to have my phone out? It stays square in my pocket from service to consumption of the food. No food grime on my phone, sir. After I eat I usually just finish my drink (if I have one that isn't water), fill it up a few times and drink more, wash my hands, pee, wash my hands some more, then leave.

Generally it would be something like Subway or chinese (HS) or Chicken Express, Chipotle, Pita Pit, chinese (college) and I'd have already paid cash at purchase but the few times I went to Olive Garden, Red Lobster etc in college I still paid cash at the tab. Never, ever, let your credit or debit card in the hands of a restaurant server (not to mention BoH wage slave immigrants looking for anything to steal).

Just stop using the faggots.

Speaking of Uber, my Uber driver fell asleep 4 times in Portland on a 30 mile trip. I hit him on the shoulder and told him to drop me off at the next intersection, he said something in his South African accent about going to school at night, but this dude was all over the fucking road and into the other lanes. I got a full refund. He got a suspension, probably 2 days and he'll be back and kill someone.

You keep saying “waste the dough”...it’s the same reason you spend money on any other non essential product. I was busy working on something yesterday evening and didn’t feel like interrupting it by making or going out for dinner, so it was worth it to drop 5 extra bucks for a delivery.

I didn't even know this was a thing. Crazy.

About a year ago I worked with a pizza chain to test the various delivery options to make sure the food quality was up to par before they partnered with them. DoorDash and GrubHub have specific guidelines about keeping the product hot/fresh that UE doesn't require of their drivers (or bikers, I guess). But UberEats is everywhere, and I guess their fees are lower. Still, I always recommend you opt for a different delivery option if it's available.

Yeah I don’t mind the extra fees those places just don’t have anywhere near the network of restaurants.

The fucking worst delivery service is Caviar. I tried it only because they were offering the entire meal free. The first time I tried the order was canceled 45 minutes later, the 2nd time I tried I waited for 45 minutes and then had to request an update because it doesn’t track your order the way UE or DoorDash does. I then get some completely useless update that says “Good things are happening my man. Joe is grilling up your food, just give us some time” almost as if it’s a prank. Normally I wouldn’t care but I called customer service and asked if that was actually intended to be a useful update and the cheesedick customer service guy said those updates are part of their unique brand. I said that’s easily the shittiest business model I’ve ever seen and not to bother completing the order :lol

Gotta love generic marketing bullshit. My guess, the real story is they found by sending triggered "updates" at specific times, they reduce customer complaints.

"Oh hon, looks like they're working on it, guess we just have to wait a little longer."
"It's been an hour."
"Well, Joe's grilling it up, they said!"

Usually if that happens I just eat a snack, say a few dried cranberries for dinner and push forward if I'm busy. Food can always wait, even until the next day if necessary.

Now thinking back, I believe I paid for delivery once my whole life. Papa John's pizza+wings delivery to my little apartment by the university in Denton, Thanksgiving week, November, 2015. I would have gone out but it was pouring buckets the entire week and I didn't have a car since I was still in college. And I only got that because they were having a 50% off promo. Otherwise I would have just settled for a can of ravioli and a can of green beans for dinner.

But hey, I'm not running your life. To each their own, I guess.

That wasn't it though, it was radio silence for 45 minutes (after the original ETA was 25), then after I request an update, I get "Joe fuckface is grillin it up real good!"

I think in this case DMC is right that it's just a stupid effort to be "woke".

In the case of UE bicycles the problem is the delivery fees are too low so there aren't enough people with an actual car and insurance who want to do it :lol

Yep. I think so too. Also the restaurants lose money on UE because their profit margins average below the 30% UE charges them. They need to drastically reduce, or completely eliminate the fees to the restaurant and charge the customers a flat booking fee (80% paid to the driver) + $5/mile (50% driver/Uber), but forget any % of the order... why should that be relevant? It isn't. Encourage customers to buy in bulk. It's better for everyone, especially the restaurant. Restaurant industry is already an extremely narrow profit margin industry.

If you don't feel like cooking or going out, why not save the hassle and risk and just keep a bunch of easy-prepare food at your place? Stuff like, canned chili and bags of Fritos. Sandwich meat and loaves of sliced bread (in the fridge of course). Cans of heat-and-eat food. Canned vegetables. Little things like shredded cheddar in the fridge to enhance your food. All you need is a microwave, fork, sometimes a knife to cut bread and stuff, that's all.

That's yet another good issue to bring up :lol

someone has a shitty day/week/etc and decides they want to do something sneaky or evil to society to "make up" for it. Maybe they have a cold and they go in and lick, spit in/mix saliva in your food and you wonder why you're waking up with a sore throat 2 days later even though you didn't go out anywhere.

I was at a local brewery (RoadmapBrewing?) on Saturday night and saw a bicycle delivery guy picking up crowlers come in 3 times. Guy was obviously an experienced biker and had a very expensive bike, but how smooth could his driving possibly be on downtown streets? You’ve gotta need a beer pretty bad to pay for a shook up can of craft beer lol
