Claire Danes cries in every episode

Not only that but they devote at least 2-3 episodes every season entirely dealing with her bipolar disorder.

Apart from the show's sharp decline over the years, this is one of the major gripes of the series.

Stephanie Swift used to cry in her shit but it was still worth watching.

modern TV shows seem to pretty much always have one or more of the following:

mental health issues
alcoholism
been molested as a kid

The show started off well and Season 7 was pretty good imo, the middle seasons are weak. They should have milked Damien Lewis's character for 1 more season.

There's too much focus on her bipolar disorder but Danes does a pretty amazing job at depicting how bipolar people act during manic phases.

I think they'll end it well.

i've seen season 1 through 6.

then about a year or two later i rewatched season 1.

then about a year or two after that, i rewatched season 1 through 4. i don't really plan on watching more. season 4 was fucking great... so glad i didn't have worry about bullshit drama with brody's wife & mike... and no boring ass dana bullshit either. season 4 was :tu:tu

Was that the season she went full Avante?

This series is good to watch while is on but almost entirely forgetable after season 1.

The subplots with Brody’s daughter were pretty insufferable tbh.

The Brody storyline went on 1 season too long. Then there was a weak season. But Quinn is an amazing character and the last 2 seasons really stepped it up IMO.

But yeah if you can't tolerate Claire Danes' horrified open jaw face of emotion then this show isn't for you :lol

Claire Danes cries in every episode

I'm guessing shaky hands, fumbling around and lights up a cigarette. Then she sits there with sleeves pulled slightly over palms, head in hands and cig between fingers, and pushes hair back as she just offers that 1000 yard stare through muffled tears.

Repeat ad nauseum.

Having a BP disorder as a station chief for the CIA doesn't jive.

Btw, have they had the lesbian episode yet? There always has to be a lesbian episode.

Not a bad idea tbh. Would have preferred it before she started showing her age, but a scene where Danes and some other chick are clam smacking would get viewers :lol

Would she put the cig out during the process?

Homeland or The Americans?

Homeland or The Americans?
homeland, easily. that's not a knock on the americans though.

homeland had bigger payoffs, characters are more memorable. season 1 & season 4 of homeland > every season of the americans.

LMAO

Homeland had maybe 2 great seasons then average insued.

The Americans never had a down season in its entire run. Actually an argument can be made that it got better, not worse.

This series had the breaking bad season ratings arch.

Started Homeland and am almost to the end of Season 1. It's pretty good but I'm concerned that this is supposed to be one of its best seasons.

Finished this. From what I'd read, I was expecting a big drop off in the later seasons. But I pretty much enjoyed them all.

Of course, the first 5 were better but still good stuff. But Claire Danes wears me out. Probably made it worse binging it.

You wouldn't wanna do her while she's having a manic episode?

Solid last season and great coda on the last episode. Tempted to revisit some earlier seasons. I enjoyed it pretty consistently but aside from season 1, I've forgotten more than I remember.

EDIT - SPOILER ALERT

Solid last season and great coda on the last episode.
Beat me to it.

I give the final season a 9.5/10 (best season overall imo, even better than season 1) and I give the ending a 7/10. It was a good ending but too abrupt imo, would have liked for them to delve into the aftermath of her tell all book.

Yeah me too but it's a classic "leave more to the imagination" approach.

Kamasi Washington though :tu

That’s definitely what it was but I’m not tryna watch a TV show to decide for myself what happens, I want the people directing the show to spoonfeed me :lol

Maybe we'll get a couple movies like they did for 24.

Final season was definitely a step up from previous ones.

Though the ending and plot toward the end was a bit unrealistic. How the hell do you trust a train wreck of a person such as Carrie to not triple cross you again? She’s insanely unreliable so I have a hard time believing the Russians would just let her not only defect but then become some kind of free lancer.

I feel like the boyfriend should know her game.

Overall a forgettable series that I won’t be rewatching ever again. :tu
