Fred "The Hammer" Williamson
Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith.......tiny kick returner out of Tennessee State where he ran a 9.4 100yards. The little speedy dude in the movie M*A*S*H.
Mack "The Truck" Lee Hill.....most powerful RB ever. Also a small college guy, Southern U.
Curtis "Count' McClinton.......first AFLer to score vs NFL
Tyreek "Cheetah" Hill
Christian "Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye. Tiny Azusa Pacific brings in a lot of track guys from Nigeria, Okoye was a weight man.

All the above Kansas City Chiefs. They had a TE named Morris Stroud who was 6-10, yet.....no nickname.....huh???

Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion yet another cat from a small school...Blufton. Where is it? Dubenion was touted as the fastest player in the old AFL, he was a Bill.

Darly "The Mad Bomber" Lamonica with the Raiders. Who can tell me who he was throwing those bombs to? Hint.....another small school guy.

Kenny "Snake" Stabler

Bullet Bob Hayes, he would STILL be the fastest player in football, his 10.06 on a dirt track over 50 years ago far superior to anything ran today or at any time. "Cheetah" ran a 10.19 in HS.

Paul "Tank" Younger the first player in the NFL out of Grambling. If he hadn't shared carries with "Deacon" Dan Towler (Washington & Jefferson) he'd have been far better known.

My Niners had Joe "Jet" Perry and Hugh "King" McElhenny there at the same time, both in the Hall of Fame.

Dick "Night Train" Lane like Joe Perry never played anything but JC ball and like Perry and all time great.

Then there was......

"Jaguar" Jon Arnett.....USC long jumper
Carlton "Cookie" Gilchrist, went straight from HS to the CFL. Then off to the Bills, first 1000 yard rusher in the old AFL. A 250 pound FB with speed.
LG "Long Gone" Dupree...ha~~~
"The Kansas Comet" Gale Sayers. His older bro Roger, once beat Hayes in a 100 yards. Also a great footballer, but....160 pounds.
"Dandy" Don Meredith
"Golden Boy" Paul Hornung
"Megatron" Calvin Johnson
"Beast Mode" Marshawn Lynch
Eugene "Mercury" Morris
Lionel "Little Train" James
Sam "Bam" Cunningham
Carl "Spider" Lockhart

But, when it comes to THE nickname how can ya beat....."The Galloping Ghost" Red Grange....?
