On this day 41 years ago, Pete Rose's 44-game hit streak ended.

For all of the advancement in players, it seems that 56 is still a hallowed number in baseball.

Dunno much about it. Only thing I know is that Rose whined that the SP on the day his streak stopped did not throw enough fastballs.
