5 years, $118 million. Should have played out the season since he'll get ample opportunities to bring his stats up again with Durant gone.

EDIT: N/m, Woj with the bads adding the money he's due in 2019-20 to the $100M/4 extension.

I mean it’s cheap if he reclaims his former play, but I think he’s done. Dude had to be told to get in shape DURING his contract year. Doesn’t bode well now that he got paid.

I'd pay him that deal in a second. An elite defensive player who is also a pretty good passer and just that right level of dirty to get under his opponents' skin without getting suspended. To get all that for less than DePression makes? Sign me up. I think he signed way too cheap when he's poised for a big year.

Was out of shape last year. Now why bother ever getting in shape ?

He was elite. Now he’s garbage. And he can’t shoot the ball at all. Like worse than depression tbh.

I wouldn't say cheap . I'd say market fair deal because he could get more but ain't truly worth more. But to stay in a situation he thrives best.

With the way the CBA is setup he's worth it IMO. His contract is worth an average of almost $13 million per season below what a non-Bird max contract would have been had he signed one next summer as a free agent. And he might have gotten max contract offers, especially in a weak FA class. I know you don't like paying anyone but the top 5-10 players in the league, but that's not the economic reality of the NBA and you have to play with the rules you're given. The low max salary greatly distorts the market and you couldn't even implement your plan of not paying 2nd tier and below players anyways since you have a salary floor you have to hit mandated by the collective bargaining agreement. You keep wanting to build teams under the rules of the late 90's CBA but they're not the rules now.

Signals that the Warriors are in cruise mode this season, not trying to do anything. Draymond knows he won't have a big year because the Warriors might now have the Lakers' mentality of either win it all or tank. They might tank this season. Seems odd for a team that just lost in the Finals to tank, but they don't have KD, Klay, Iggy or Cousins. They could fake a Donkey injury early, get Steph's ankle to tweak mysteriously while just walking out on the floor, and suddenly you have bench guys getting big minutes and showing the front office who to slash and who to keep. Then they might try to get a decent lottery pick.

Spurs would just keep plodding along, trying to win RS games.

Curry might not want to fake an injury with his chance to chuck the fuck out of the ball for 35 plus, Kobe style.

If I can't get a top 10 guy...
I'd rather build a team of medium sized contracts on short term deals. I would have a bunch of pat bev marcus smart to even danny green type deals rather than pay Draymond a bird level max.
I don't mind his deal at all and shows you don't have overpay non superstars... DONKEY took less after Russell and Klay got max money... Looney took less too.

i do. i'll throw in a qualifier that if CP3 misses 25+ games that becomes a lot less likely.

Then who's out?
SA
LAC
GSW
LAL
UTA
POR
DEN
HOU

They're not even close to any of these teams with Paul playing 100% of the season. They're best offensive player is Danillo Gallinari, add Paul and Schroeder to make their 3 best players. Two of the three can get injured opening mail. That team has "tank" written all over it.

Why/How do you think they can compete with this roster in this conference?

gallo was the best player on a playoff team last year, too. paul has still been a very effective player when on the court. SGA had a strong rookie year and should be even better. steven adams is still one of the better centers around. schroder/roberson can play. i think they have enough pieces to be a good not great team. the west is pretty stacked tbh... i still think they're a playoff caliber team.

Yup. In one of the threads, I admitted I was wrong and praised Paul for being the professional he's paid handsomely to be. :tu
