The most dominate player in NFL history?
Don Hutson
His numbers were on a whole other level than what WR's were doing in his era.
In 1936 he had 8 TD's, then next four receivers combined....2.
It was always like that then in 1942 he has 74 receptions for (11 games) and 1, 211 yards the first 1000 yard season in NFL history and he scored 17 TD's, the guy in second....27 catchs, 259 yards and the next four had 9 TD's combined.
The guy was like some Alien who didn't belong there.
He was a 9.8 sprinter back when the WR was a 9.4 and slow white guys played cornerback.
He also had 30 INT's, a nine time pro bowler and he also kicked. Led the NFL in INT's one season.
There is no other player who dominated their position in their era like Don Hutson did in his.
Not sure this is true....
He also played baseball while at Alabama. Story goes.....there was a baseball game and a track meet going on at the same time right there on campus. So he walks over to the track from the diamond changes his shoes and wins the 100 yard dash wearing a baseball uniform.
Hmmmm?

In those 100 years we saw a lot of firsts, who can tell me the first HBCU WR to have a 1000 yard receiving season? Let me guess, no clue.
Russell Wilson has a couple firsts.
First 100 passer rating in first two seasons
First 4000/30/500 season in history (came within 18 yards of doing ot again the following season}
Most 4th quarter TD passes in history for a season.

Jimmy Brown had to be seen to be believed. Imagine defenses stacked to stop this guy and he STILL averaged over 5 yards a carry and 100 yards a game for his career. He has no equal when it comes to ball carriers.

Why Cardinals preferred John David Crow over Jim Brown
July 18, 2019 by retrosimba (https://retrosimba.com/author/retrosimba/)
The NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals may have rejected a chance to acquire running back Jim Brown.
https://retrosimba.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/jim_brown.jpg?w=500On Feb. 4, 1961, the St. Louis Globe-Democrat reported the Cleveland Browns twice offered to trade Brown to the Cardinals for running back John David Crow, but were turned down.
The Cardinals confirmed the story and the Browns denied it.
In retrospect, the Cardinals should have done the deal if given the chance, but at the time the decision wasn’t so obvious.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Crow a better receiver and while a good runner he was no Jim Brown. He ended up on my Niners at TE. He was the first Card ti have a 1000 yard season.
That first NFL season in 1920 looked like this.
Akron Pros...8 wins and 3 ties. yep....the first undefeated team.
Decatur Staleys....10-1-2
Buffalo All Americans....9-1-1
Chicago Cardinals....6-2-2
Rock Island Independants....6-2-2 also
Dayton Triangles....5-2-2
Rochester Jeffersons...6-3-2
Canton Bulldogs....7-4-2
Detroit Heralds....2-3-2
Cleveland Tigers...2-4-2
Chicago Tigers....2-5-1
Hammond Pros...2-5-0
Columbus Panhandles...2-6-2
Muncie Flyers...0-1-0
In 1921 the Muncie Flyers went....0-2-0
And we saw the Tanawanda Kardex, who went....0-1-0 never to be heard of again.
The thing is the game was never met to be played by the kind of athletes we see today. A big man in 1920 wouldn't be a big man today and there were no 220 pounders with 4.4 jets. We have got too big and too strong and too fast for the game.
There was a Cowboys team before Dallas (who came real close to being called the Rangers) this was in 1925 and the Kansas City Cowboys who went 2-5-1, in 26 they were 8-3 and that was it.
What a bummer this guy wasn't allowed to play NFL football.
Ben Stevenson
During that span, the team amazingly suffered only two defeats. Stevenson combined speed (9.8 100-yard dash), strength and durability. Scoring on a combination of long runs and drop kicks, he also played defensive back, earning a reputation as one of the top pass thieves in the conference. Stevenson was named to seven consecutive Black College All-America teams, numerous Negro all-time All-America teams and was voted as the game's greatest all-around player.
Curious about just what conference was Tuskegee in back then, it wasn't the SWAC or MEAC. The school also had Mozelle Ellerrbe the first great HBCU sprinter, he showed up around 1937ish.
This is a FOOTBALL forum, ok? All we care about here is FOOTBALL,ok?
Now, why is it blacks are so far superior to whites when it comes to quicks, agility and speed on a FOOTBALL field?
Nobody gives a shit about smarts, bankrupt, any of that stuff. All that matters here is you can't even name 10 good white Running backs while I can rattle off at least a 100 stud black ones in a matter of minutes.
Why fight reality?
Why would you want to run with the ball when you can be Quarterback and throw it? RB is a position for peasants. Brb concussed and blown out knee
Dude, that was beyond just stupid. Do you not get anything guy?
I can rattle off over 100 white NFL RB's, but none of them can compare to the top black ones, why? Totally wrong about RB being a position for peasants, ever hear of Rocky Bliear, Nick Pietrasonte out of Notre Dame? How about Stanfords Ernie Nevers? Ed Marinaro out of the Ivy League.
Why fight it with all that stupid BS, why not just accept the facts, which are blacks are far superior when it comes to speed, agilty and quicks and size with speed. Fuck the why, but those are the facts.
Tyreek Hill ran a 10.19 100m in HS so lets give him a 10.08ish if he'd ran track fully in college.
That is around a 9.2 100 yards.
So what other NFL WR had similiar times?
Bob Hayes 9.1/10.06
Mel Gray 9.2
Cliff Branch 9.2
Alvis Whitted 10.07
Sam Graddy 10.09
Ron Brown 10.06
Jacoby Ford....10.01
Willie Gault, James Jett never broke 10.10.
I have no doubts Randy Moss had that kind of speed but wasn't a legit track guy.
A TON at 9.3/10.20ish.
