View Full Version : The Defense Department will reportedly fight “fake news.” Will it succeed?

Bloomberg (https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2019-09-01/us-military-fake-news-disinformation) reported at the start of September that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the US Defense Department will be combating “large-scale, automated disinformation attacks,” a.k.a. “fake news.”

The hope is that this system will be able to protect the 2020 election from this form of manipulation. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has directly tried to stand in the way of such efforts.

Do you think it is important for the military to take steps to prevent fake news? Will these measures be enough? What else could be done to stop the spread of fake news?

It's just a continuing strategy to prepare the Internet for Gov't takeover, or a sharing of the Internet with it's rightful creators & owners.

They're trying a myriad of insurgencies to get at that boundless structure of power & $ the Internet possesses. They're jealous because they didn't get there first, A. & B, they didn't commandeer it early on when ownership was still in infancy & not sealed on the land like it is now.

It's fascinating to watch Gov't circle the Internet, desperate for a landing spot, a harbor, a niche where they can be legally anchored & able to wrest power from the rightful owners. They do it well, but, they'll play hell gettin' it done here, in broad daylight, where they must work. They can't do this in the shadows as is their SOP.

The elites are scared. More people are getting woke and the masses - especially the younger generation - aren't falling for their lies anymore. We are on the path to corporate totalitarianism. Scary.

won't make ANY difference. The red/slave/Confederate states will remain Repug, as financed by the oligarchy.

If they won't not enough Congressional seats to actually pass their shit,

they will have enough to block even the tiny progress, solutions, repairs from the feckless Dems.

Then of course shithole red/slave/Confederate states at state-level will continue to degrade their states as much as they can (like guns in churches and schools, implement Christian sharia in schools and workplaces)

You People seem to have no idea how strong and total is the oligarchy's grip on Repugs and Repug states.
