Ignore them? From the Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/sports/) online:

Who will win the NBA championship?

* Houston
* Mavs
* Miami
* Suns
* Detroit
* Nuggets
* New Jersey

Well, better luck next year people. It looks like the Spurs didn't qualify. :lol

BTW, the Rockets are the runaway favorites with 80% of the vote, while the Pistons' dreams look to be shattered again with only an outside 1%. :elephant

Why NJ and Denver and no Spurs. What a joke.

That's pretty funny. The Spurs' dominance is a bitter pill for them to swallow.

It has just been announced that Stephen A. Smith and Greg Anthony released the poll.

yeah if T-Mac can stay healthy all season long Houston might make past the 2nd round.. but will he like Garnett be carrying too much of the team load to remain healthy throughout the long season and post season...

You know, its a new season, and i hate to come into it overconfident and cocky, but damn, its hard not to be. I anticipate a possible slow start but once get rolling, its basically over for everyone not in the black and silver. If i'm wrong someone please tell me

Oh, Gee!!

I thought we Spurs fans were homers, but this is just pathetic.

Maybe the idea is that there is no guessing who the champion will be.

Who will Derek Anderson guard when they play the Spurs? Wait...Derek Anderson doesn't play defense.

Oh, Gee!!

I didn't see a choice for "no guessing" or "who knows?".

Nor do I see a choice for "We'll have to wait and see, now won't we."

After seeing this poll, I've put all of my tickets for this season on the ticket exchange -- but I might be better off just giving them away, since nobody will pay to see a non-contender.

:depressed

Anyone want my playoff option? I'm not sure what good it will do you, though . . . .

FWD - I'll buy your tickets, and take your playoff option, but only to do you a favor and maybe have the chance to see a real contender like Houston.

Man, the Chronicle is such a freakin' rag. They're still wiping egg off of their face for the headline their sports page ran back when the 'Stros were 15-30. Basically it was a tombstone with the Astros logo on it. Way to go jackasses. I know that statistically they were betting on the odds, but I wouldn't have stuck my neck out after the second half of the season they had last year.

The only possible explanation is that they have some inside information that we don't, like that the entire Spurs roster and coaching staff were abducted by aliens this morning. Otherwise they just look like a pack of monkeys.

Any newspaper that coins both "choke city" and "clutch city" clearly wakes up in a different world every morning.

Actually, I may be wrong, but I believe The Houston Post coined "Choke City"... It folded less than a year later.

They added the Spurs, we are now at 24% compared to their 68%.

I see they must have added us, and we're already at 24%.

Maybe Houston is just ticked about the Astro's and then across the freeway and a new NBA year coming up and just... get more ticked

You think it's bad the Spurs were left out??? The freaking Pacers were left out and they were by far the best team in the league before The Detroit incident.

genghisrex
11-01-2005, 10:44 PM
Yeah, no kidding, I can't believe I missed that! The Spurs are only going for the NBA Championship repeat, while the Indiana Artests could very likely choke a season away for the third year in a row. Threepeats > Repeats, Dude!

They must have just added the Spurs to the poll. Look at the bottom. They've already got 28% of the votes.
