Should be interesting. Pop usually doesn't play his players much in preseason but he's usually pretty quick to give hints about his rotation. I think we'll know much more about what to expect after tonight.

What's your guess on the starting lineup and the first player(s) off the bench?

Same SL as last season (White, Forbes, DDR, Gay/Poeltl, LMA) at least until Murray shows he can shoot consistently.

Murray will definitely be starting. Hopefully White improved his shooting during the offseason to start at the 2 guard. The bench will be Forbes/Mills & Walker/Belinelli at the guards spot. There is a small possibility of Forbes starting over White but if defense is the focus, it should be White.

Wasn’t Poeltl starting more matchup-related against a large Denver team?

Agree - really hope Walker displaces Beli. My real wish is they could turn his expiring contract into something more useful (possibly with another asset attached) but highly doubtful.

Poeltl started 14 of the final 17 regular season games, IIRC.

LMA, DDR, Gay, Mills, Forbes

I know this is a ridiculous return to yesteryear, but Pop has some loyalty to his veterans. Murry will be anxious to play and Pop will make him first off the bench for Mills. And then White for Forbes. Pertl third.

Dejounte, Forbes, DDR, Gay, LMA. White off the bench first to replace DJ who'll be on minutes restriction IMO.

Ditto but first off the bench White

Looking forward to seeing the White/Murray defensive combo.

Murray - Forbes - DeRozan - Aldridge - Poeltl

First off bench: Carroll

Kinda the lineup I expect except White being the 6th man. White, Lonnie, Carroll, Gay and LMA.

Lyles needs rest already? Did a practice extend past 2 hours or something?

You should be able to watch if you are an NBA League Pass subscriber.

The coaching staff had to rest their eyes after watching him flail away in practice.

Are you sure? I have NBA Team pass, an of course my team is the Spurs. So I should be able to watch it? I thought preseason wasn't apart of league pass

It's not being broadcast on any TV station, so its highly unlikely League Pass picks up anything.

Lol this just shows the intelligence on here. 2 people have posted that Demarre is out for rest then 3 people posted that hes in their lineups lol

Strange. Is it at least going to be on WOAI?

If I remember right, last season had free NBA League Pass during the preseason, and maybe even for a week or two into the regular season.

Pop already campaigning for that 4th COY :toast
If we continue to see Mills, Marco, and Lyles out for the rest of the year then it's a lock for him to win it.

Looks like Pop's going with Murray, Forbes, DeRozan, Aldridge and Poeltl. Interesting, although it's probably not sustainable unless Murray or DeRozan improves shooting-wise. White as Ginobili 2.0 is an arrangement that could work really well, IMO.

Poeltl started 14 of the final 17 regular season games, IIRC.

And seems like that’s what we’re getting going forward... at least for now. I like the combo against the right matchups. But you can’t trot out an NBA lineup with one three point shooter these days.

line ups to for the regular season will be

Murray/Forbes/DeRozan/Carroll/LA and
White/Mills/Walker/Gay/Poeltl

Obviously I wouldn't play Mills at all, but we all know Pop will play him an average of 20+ min and have him in the closing line up by the end of the 4th when we need a stop. He'll also switch Walker and Beli as bench SF so Walker has to earn his rotation spot

Carroll shot 34% from 3 last year. Gay shot 40%. Rudy will start in a shooting poor lineup.

While he shot a better % he shot significantly less. I feel that’s Carroll would be better because he will let them fly while Rudy would get in the habit of pump faking the 3 for a mid range jumper.

2 and 0 are on the wrong sides of the decimal point tbh

I doubt that they signed Carroll to defend opposing bench players. He should start and his shooting percentage should get better on the Spurs
