View Full Version : Stephen Jackson's (Fegan's) contract demands?

I saw a poster on another site say that Jack's agent was asking for $38 million over 6 years. Is this anywhere close to the truth? Does anyone know anything about the real numbers. Kori?

I mean, we could give him a 300% raise and barely crack $2 million the first year. Do they think someone will give him the MLE for 6 years based on making a few 3 pointers in the playoffs?

I believe that is the full mid level exception for 6 years.

3 years at 12 million would be reasonable.

I haven't heard any specific numbers associated with Jack. If Fegan is asking for this, then no wonder the negotiations weren't going well.

:wtf

Of course, if the Spurs had to renounce him to get the Turkoglu / Mercer trade done the asking price is irrelevant...he is gone...

It's up to Jack. If he wants to be back there is a way. People say it's his agent but damn, who's agent is he?

Jackson is worth what Bowen is making. He is a hard working contributor, nothing more, nothing less.

For every great play, great shot, great steal, he airballed, travelled, and turned the ball over.

He would be a good asset to the team, and with some improvement, he could be a great asset to the team. However, he hasn't shown anything close to 6 yrs 38 million.

3 years $14 mil makes sense for both sides.

Memo to Fagan:

When negotiating a deal, make sure to stay within a few mil of market value.

where the **** does he think he'd get that deal for jax?

This is wierd, to me because isn't Jackson the guy that said, Hey if the Spurs offer me anything, I'll take it.

When Jack said he'd play for the Spurs for less what did that mean? Less than the max? :lol

Is it possible Fegan has filled his head with this impossible shit and now Jack doesn't really have any idea what he is actually worth? What do you think they will get offered on the open market? Personally, I don't think he'll get what Speedy got.

Jax wants to jump the "middle contract". Here's the scenario:

1) Pop picks you off of the scrap heap, and signs you to a two year deal at the min, or close to it.

2) You do pretty well, and are rewarded for it with a three year deal starting between two and three million. See: Malik, JJ.

3) You continue to improve and work hard, and get the full boat long term MCE deal. See: Malik.

If only Ghost were writing the check Fegan could probably get it.

Kohai, that's exactly what I was thinking would happen this year with Jack. Maybe Fegan can get him a nice contract in Equador or something.

This would explain why Jack might be on the outs. That is an amazing asking price.

What/who did you get this from, grjr?

It was thrown into one of the Jack threads over at SR by somebody I didn't recognize. I thought it was completely ridiculous and wanted to see if anyone had the straight poop over here. It was the only number I've seen posted for Jack though.

6 yrs, $38 million can't possibly be right. That's more than the full MCX starting with 10% raises. Fegan's on crack if he thinks he can get Jax that. No one in their right mind is throwing Jax the full MCX for max years.

I'm one of the biggest Jax fans on the face of the earth, but if that's the asking price I let him walk and don't think twice about it. Maybe he should try to see if Sott Layden will throw that money at him now that he moved Spree, beause no other GM in this world is paying that asking price.

Jax value = 3yr/$11-12M deal TOPS!

I like SJax alot and would love to have him back, but anything more than 3.5 a year starting is way too much.

Maybe he will realize that Fegan is a fucking moron that is screwing him over and decide he will agree to a one year deal with SA, so we will have his bird right's next year and could resign him, Hedo, and Manu. The following year, it wouldn't matter that we were over the cap because we would have Tony's bird rights.

SJax: TELL FEGAN TO **** OFF.

Typical money grubbing agent looking out for himself and not the player.

Good luck Stephen!
All in all I hope you up end well and I hope still sign here.

Your good player and I hope to see you silver and black again even if it isn't next year. :wink
