The upcoming Marvel and Star Wars series are the big draw, but Disney owns so many properties at this point and has the cash to make quality new shows/movies that it's safe the assume that there will be plenty of content for all ages. If not, 13 bucks isn't exactly a big investment.

Comparing the previous 6 main film. The gap is smaller than many would admit. There are a few main points that make the difference though

A) The actors in Episode 1-3 are superior. Neeson, McGregor and Portman. The weakest is Christensen and yet he would be near the top in the new ones

B) Built in advantage but the story is simply better. Vader's back story is a-lot more interesting than Rey's origin (?). I am still not sure what is the main purpose of this trilogy

C) the social commentary. Maybe bad timing and this stuff would go more unnoticed in the past but these days it feels ham fisted.

Overall the new ones are better filmed than the green screen overdose of Episodes 1-3 but they simply missed the mark in actor quality + storyline and those are huge. I've said this before but when I watch the new ones I find myself rooting for Kylo and that falls on the management team Not doing an effective job of selling Rey.

They already have B+ movies. So many good ones not there (on streaming). Yea, they're gonna be whittled down by competition; but indications are they're strong for the long run due to their strong foundation and name brand. The movie companies may not want to do all the costs of creating their own netflix when it's hassle free money coming in from Netflix. The TV networks are trying to horde in also, so NBC pulled The Office; but I think too many options might not work with only so much money to go around. I see some of them pulling out within the decade.

CBS All Access just had a Black Friday one month trial I took advantage of to watch the two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, but Disney+ is so new they don't have to do that now.

I'd wait a month for The Mandalorian to finish its run so you can watch all of season one. Should end up being about six hours so you can knock that out in a week.

I wanted to watch the X-men animated series but its too long to binge watch in 7 days.

Only thing I could complain about is I don't/wont watch Marvel or Starwars movies, but there are loads of movies and other non-Diz stuff. And, as is with almost every new service when it launches, has lots of jitter/lag/buffering and the Simpsons DO NOT WORK. The quality is somehow fucked up on my 4ks and I see double lines on a 57 inch and a 42 inch, so they need to fix that.

For that price, you only get the based service. When I decide to take the plunge, I'll certainly go for the 13 dollar sub which includes ESPN and Hulu.
