In many ways, whatever success this is having is actually just more evidence that the wall was always the stupidest approach to tackling the issue.

Yep.
But the trade gambit did get Mexico’s attention.
Maybe Trump will stop trying to do an end run by taking money from the military schools and housing.
Yep.

So did the flood of asylum seekers staying in and passing through Mexico. Many Mexicans weren’t happy with it either.

How would you tackle it? I'll give you a few hours to google the correct response.

How to tackle it? Don't waste money building a pointless wall for starters.

Well... I’m not going to write a policy paper here because this is definitely not an easy issue to address... I agree with that. But I would begin by doing a better job of using our embassies and consulates in the countries in which immigrants are coming from. Start by making it clear to people there who even has a realistic chance of being granted asylum based on their case and circumstances so that they don’t make the trip to the border for no reason. I don’t think we’re doing a great job of even doing that to be honest.

You’re salty today, Chris. Maybe you should go on YouTube and watch an ASMR video. Get yourself calmed down... relaxed. :lol

I think we should invade Mexico and eliminate the cartels. Tackle the problem at it's source.

We'd have to invade China too then.

How about a series of thermobaric weapons along the path of ingress? There would obviously be some stragglers so you can send in a B team for that. Get some ground target's lased for the Navy.
