TD sat for a year with this in 2001 IIRC

Not even sure that applies Duncan didn't rely on explosion and one of the best rookies I ever saw... I wanted to trade Shaq for him straight up even though Shaq was more dominant.

Just mentioning because Spurs could've used him during their playoff run that year, but were protective and sat him the whole year instead. And you're right, he didn't need hops the way 6'4" Zion does. Let's see how desperate New Orleans is for wins in the dog days of December/January.

He didn’t sit out the whole entire year. That injury happened towards the end of the ‘00 season and caused Tim to miss the whole entire ‘00 playoffs. He rehabbed during the summer and ended up playing the whole entire ‘00-‘01 season.

Sitting out their true rookie years helped Simmons Embiid and Blake Griffin...

NBA really needs to find a way to flex games. Pelicans have 20 total national TV games (not counting NBATV) and all of that was predicated on Zion living up to the hype. It's not like he's gonna come back from meniscus surgery and be jumping over guys again immediately.

I love it when it backfires. Serves them right.

Totally agree. I wasn't even convinced that he would be worth that spotlight when he was healthy...this injury just makes it a massive fail.

At least the whole country will get to watch the Pelicans scrap for 35 wins.

Some of the know-it-talls like the "tbh" guy or baseline bum, can yall point out to me one instance where an nba athlete built like that DID NOT have chronic knee, ankle, and/or foot injuries?

Anyone moderately paying attention shoulda seen this shit coming miles away.
Rejoice, Lebron fans, your king will stay #2.
