Pop's shit rotation of Mill$ and Ferrari was draining threes putting us up almost 20 and team got lackadaisical and took the game for granted. Murray is on mins restriction and White did fantastic, especially that fake and turn around for a layup baseline (taking advantage of Lillard working had on offense guarding White). People keep whining that Pop doesn't play Lonnie, but u can blame inability to close out for that today and not Pop. It was the vets that put Spurs up toward the end while Murray was on the bench.

When Spurs offense turned off and the Lillard starting heating up, Pop just went 4-1 down low with LMA. LMA one on one with Toliver got nothing done and Lillard had the Spurs fretting.

Was there at the game.... Lillard had 10 points when Murray went out. Finished with like 30.

after the horrible start, i love that the spurs not only fought back but got way ahead. unfortunately we did the same thing and probably should've lost. But we didn't.

Murray not playing in the end is getting on my nerves. There's gotta be a way to manage minutes to where he can play at the end. 3 straight close games, 3 straight games where our best player is on the bench. Ugh!

Murray made some mistakes but man he is oozing with superstar potential. He seems to have Tony Parker speed where he just zooms by the opponent, he is getting better at finishing @ the basket and his defense is great. Not to mention his rebounding skills. The great thing his he is still growing and has so much more potential.

Pippen miss in 99 led to CHAMPIONSHIP
Horry miss in 03 led to CHAMPIONSHIP
Lillard miss on 19 leads to ....??? hahaha as if they are even close to equal

but if we do win it all i'm bumping this post.

Wins like this are important come year end when the west is super tight and each game (and tiebreakers) matter.

I think Spurs and Blazers only play twice more, so one of two means tiebreaker.

The ceiling of this team is so much lower if Pop continues to refuse to play White and Murray together.

Once Dejounte is off this minutes restrictions, both him and Derrick should be penciled in for 30+ mins each game, no excuses.

The fact that DWhite is getting gonna be averaging the same # of minutes as Trey Lyles is the biggest f'n joke I can remember from Pop and there's been so many fucking jokes these last 12 years.

I keep saying it but Dejounte reminds me a lot like a young Gary Payton.

I just dont get why pop wont use this season to throw lonnie into the fire and just let him grow.

it could payoff big by the end of the season like it did for utah with that rookie

and if he sucks

better to find out soon if he is going to be good or not.

gets really old that garbage players get all the minutes and young talent just fucking rots on the bench or in austin...

add to that - the way lonnie dominated in summer league....just fucking frustrating

Yes, plus add that Beli and Mills actually played well this game, and DD top scored with 10/18 shooting. But its all F Pop F DD for missing FT's.

Lillard's footwork was awful on that last play.

Also, I'm not sorry I missed the game. Back in the day, 19 point leads with 5 minutes left were pretty much insurmountable. Today's NBA makes building on leads a joke.

Can't play IV either. Mills and Forbes leadership is urgently needed. obviously.

3 point chucking along with touch fouls pretty much makes it hard to keep big leads today.

Pippen? What miss? Was he on the Blazers? We swept them in the playoffs that year.

And let’s keep it that way. The reason we got almost lost the game was because we got complacent and started throwing up contested mid-range jumpers in the 4th.

Blowing a large lead in the 1st quarter on the 2nd of a back to back missing a key player isn't the same as blowing a large lead in the 4th AT home while being better rested. Then again, we were essentially missing our best player in the entire quarter.

it doesn't matter bro. we are young... didn't you see the graphic where we are the youngest team pop has coached. they got the dub and the got a brutal film session tomorrow. They'll figure it out. Plus our best player is on a minutes restriction and wasn't in the entire time the run happened. Much about nothing. Got to see if that happens when he's in there. So in fact, we were missing "a key player" as well. The same player that happened to shut down the man who went off.

Edit: missed the last part of your post but exactly my man.

i get the argument about blowing a 20 point lead in the fourth but this early in the season, how many teams are gonna be in playoff form. We got a long way to go. Just be happy we got the win in a tight west and we get to learn. Pop is gonna roast them in film. You guys are cliff jumping over the third game of the season which we won.

You're right bro. We'll be in good shape in due time. Alot of flaws that that can be cleaned up and the rotations will improve once Murray's minute restrictions are lifted. You can tell this is better than last year's team.

oh hell yeah man. we definitely have a whole other gear that we didn't have last year. We are winning on skill and talent alone and that's just insane compared to the misery we been in the last couple years. We have yet to play a 48 minute game.

Agreed this a young team so they are prone to having moments like what happened tonight. What I was impressed by is how they comeback from a big deficit whereas last year they would not have been able to get back in the game.

said the same thing early on in the thread... it would have taken a whole game to overcome that kind of deficit from this caliber of opponent. We were back in the game by the end of the half. This team will be a problem if Pop has them ready by the playoffs. I don't know if my homerism is acting up but I'm starting the think they can be a top 3-4 seed now. Got to see how the look on this tough road trip.

I have some doubts that if the three games we played at home had been played on the road they would have resulted in Ws. The Ws are nice, and the team shows promise - especially with Derrick showing up - but there is plenty of room for improvement. I’ll keep my fingers crossed when we hit the road.

Spurs play Orlando on 11/15 and Blazers on 11/16. I’m thinking they rest Dejounte for Orlando so he can play against Blazers. Probably best strategy for winning both games with him having to sit one out

or Orlando blitzes the Spurs like they did last season ... that was a nasty game where the Spurs had zero chance ... it was even a home game, was it not?

I also feel like our lack of outside shooting will kill us come playoff time. It definitely did against the Nuggets. Losing Bertans isn't helping either.

We need at least another 2 long range threats.

feel the same way. Play a zone defense against the Spurs and all that dribble penetration stops. Dare them to shoot 3s

I believe the biggest shift in this year's team is defense. I was really shocked how many defensive plays we were making yesterday during the comeback. Sure, our offense is better too but the defense is what i'm more excited about.

As well murray needs to learn how to hold onto that ball better too. Watching from row12(thought I got row10 seats lol) it was noticable he was rushing himself. Loved his defense and engine.
