Big mass quitting/firing there for being told to avoid politics
https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/10/deadspin-staffers-quit-one-by-one-after-being-told-to-stick-to-sports.html
Kind of liked deadspin but the blowing of all those supposedly heroic dudes for quitting on Twitter is hilariously nauseating.

It's censorship and let's not be hypocritical here. It's wrong on either side.
Deadspin fucked itself.
They did some analytics or whatever and it showed that their political articles got more clicks but oh well gotta stay woke.

They had some funny shit, like the Why Your Team Sucks series, but it was mostly a bunch of unethical liberal blowhards. They’re on the same shit-tier level as Barstool but have convinced themselves that they’re some elevated form of sports journalism.
:lmao that NY Times story where Deadspin’s editor brags about having Puerto Rican neighbors.

It's not censorship. Writers are hired to write within a proper scope. If they're interested in being political writers and ditching sports, then that's what they should do.
It's funny watching these indoctrinated snowflakes bitch and moan because they don't understand boundaries.

They don't have "freedom of expression" as you put it. They're there to do a fucking job, which is to report on sports.

What changed is they were losing readership because purveyors of sports actually want sports information and not whiny snowflakes crying about politics.
This isn't a hard one to figure out, Wreck.
:lmao Snowflakes self-cleaned house for them. They don't even have worry about the severances this way.

I don't give a shit about Deadspin, but it's retarded.. what's wrong with growth and covering more topics? Bigger audience, bigger bottom line right? They could have segregated the site by topic instead. Surely there are a ton of writers that have no issue writing about sports exclusively so they'll be back

The owners can order whatever they want. It's fine that the writers and editors quit instead of following those orders. If Deadspin's previous mix of issue coverage was successful some other source will fill that demand.

Their jealous snark towards any other media entities got really old. Their obsession with Simmons was a perfect embodiment of the Mad Men “I feel sorry for you/I don’t think about you at all” meme.
I kinda love that a bunch of dumbasses like Barstool managed to troll them into oblivion.

At least four different links on DJT getting 'booed' at UFC.
The new parent company clearly gets that fans of sports don't want to have to swim through a river of SJW tears while trying to find out about sports, which hasn't been delivered in the second place.
