...averaging 16 points per game (4 threes made per game), on about 30 minutes played per game, with a 19 PER:

:depressed:

That's 20 points per 36 minutes. And double his average from his Spurs days, on only 8 more minutes per game.

When he was on the spurs he was uncompetitive ?

He loved the doghouse

Plus/minus -11. Side note Beal had a -41 tonight, how is that even possible?

Bad player on a bad team just like Dewayne Dedmon when he was with the Hawks.

I didn't see the game, but did you see that box? Beal scored 30 for the Wiz, but the rest of the starters had 3,3,4, and 7. And Beal who put up 30 had a +/- of -41. I'm not a fan of the +/-, but that's just ugly.

Yeah, Bertans only had 8 tonight. He could've put up 20 and it wouldn't have helped that beatdown.

LOL. This is what happens when you walk away from the computer before hitting save. Yeah, a guy puts up 30 points and still is a -41? There's something you don't see every day.

But he’s a former Spur that I can genuinely root for. Good on him if he somehow averages a good number and is a solid offensive piece for them. He worked hard, even if the playoffs weren’t good to him

Bertans is a good rotation player. It made it hard to play him & Gay in the playoffs against Millsap at the 4.

I like Davis, he's a good guy, hope he plays well in his contract year and gets paid.

However, he's not improved much in his time in the NBA and seems unlikely to change. Apart from his elite shooting, he does nothing at even an average level. Sure, there are scenarios, in which he can be effective, e.g. in Houston, but he's not really much of a difference maker otherwise. He'll have good games but let's not make threads for each decent game he has on a losing team, like with J. Simmons, who put up a lot of empty stats on a bad Orlando team and is now out of the league, waived before his contract even expired.

To me Bertans contribution on court is similar to mills. A player who could catch fire and scores lots of points but not much else. If the shots are not falling then they become non-useful players.

They were also the reason why Spurs signed Bertans to 14 Million $/2 years instead of 20 Million $/ 4 years

Bertans is built to be a good player on a great defensive team. He’d be great for the 76ers to pick up.

Davis is a hell of a shooter. It was worth the sacrifice to get Morris, but...

Guy went through 2 major knee injuries and lost a finger, and still makes the NBA. He ain't perfect but you gotta respect Bertans.

That's a pretty good way of putting it. He's not rebounding for shit, and he's not having to defend, and his offensive production has been off the chart (for him at least). But his team is 1-4 and the only team they've beaten is 2-4.

I'd like to have his 3P production this year. But he hasn't turned into a Sixth Man candidate just because he's knocking down more than usual.

That's not what he was saying, and you know it. He said that Bert would be a good addition to a team that plays good D.

On the Wizards, he doesn't have to worry about playing D. Or rebounding. There's not a lot of point in getting excited about the fact that he's hitting a lot of 3's. I wish we hadn't lost him, but he wouldn't have had the opportunity to play that way here.

The rest have been vintage Bertans.

I think he's just as likely to end up with an 8 point average again than maintain the 16 point average-- which is already 14 after one game.

Morris>>>>Bertans. They tried upgrading--who knew Morris would be a bitch.

What we should be doing is comparing him to Morris. That's the trade the Spurs thought they had made, and 99% of the time the player doesn't renege on his verbal commitment.

Morris>>>>Bertans. They tried upgrading--who knew Morris would be a bitch.

This.

Spurs didn't intend to send Bertans off for nothing. Morris is the one who bitched out on the agreement.

At least Lyles has shown himself capable of putting in productive minutes doing things that no one expected of him...and things that Bertans was not good at doing. If Trey can actually start hitting shots, it will be an upgrade tbh.

We tried for an upgrade and the upgrade fucked us over. PATFO are not at fault here, so are you just being a whiny bitch to be a whiny bitch?

I don't get it.This will be one of the main ST alternative timeline causes célèbres for a few seasons to come. Get used to it and get used to the defensiveness of those who bring him up every time his stat line looks good.

Well, seeing how Bertans' BPM is 1.5, he manages to do that quite well. Even on a shitty team like the Wizards.

Feels like bertans was the upgrade to Bonner and now samanic is the upgrade to bertans.

Samanic is a pretty similar player to both and has the potential to become the best version of that role.

How so? If you are in a bad team, you tend to get less quality looks. For a space providing role player like Bertans that should be a great handicap, yet he's having a career year so far.

Why is that? Because Bertans can be more than just a spot up shooter. He's a lot more versatile than most folks gave him credit for here. Brooks realized this and is using him in more varied ways.
