seems like a win win if you ask me. I think it will sort itself out this season and we could be top 4 seed in the west but we have a lot of work to do.
I have a hard time seeing it, but won’t knock you for your optimism. I feel like a playoff spot will just make Pop run back the same roster with the low ceiling vets. Taking the 2nd seed nuggets to 7 games last year was commendable but in hindsight was bad for the team cause it reassured pop that the roster construction was fine and like expected they barely made improvements. Sure, Morris was a bitch for what he did and he would have helped a lot. But if this team just performs about the same as last year, pop isn’t gonna do anything to try to upgrade the team even though a lot of the vets on the team need to go, especially the two “star” players.

:lol Surprised you are talking after the Lakers lost to a lottery team tonight in the bulls. Still bitter about the Spurs not giving #2 to the Lakers.
Might want to check again :lmao Lakers came back from a 19 pt deficit to win the game.
Spermfan with the bads per par. Top of the west. Six game winning streak. Stay mad :lol

Lakers are contenders. Uncle Dennis sent your team from the WCF to the lottery. Stay mad :lol

Are you gonna pretend like your team wasn’t a laughing stock several seasons before this year? Enjoy the run but we know your chickenshit fan base will pop up suddenly on here after years of having bags over their heads.

Again it's very obvious you are bitter. If you weren't you wouldn't have created a thread bitching about how the Spurs should have traded #2 for BI. Hell you wouldn't have been bitching about the Spurs playing easy teams when they started out 4-1 if your were not bitter. Lakers are not beating the Clippers this year. The only chance they have is if #2 gets hurt. Uncle Dennis harmed both the Spurs and Lakers. Lakers will have a great year winning 55-60 games but it will be all for not when the Clippers take you out in the playoffs.
Spurs could be a lottery team but your obsession with them is pretty pathetic and wreaks saltiness. I personally didn't give shit about the Lakers from 2013-2019 when they were a lottery team but then again I wasn't hoping the Spurs could steal a superstar from them either.

Late to the party but ugh can't afford to lose games like this. DeMar and Lyles played very well. Walker and Murry both had poor nights. Gay off night. For what it's worth, I don't dislike Beli to the same degree as most of you but 10 shots in 12 minutes is unacceptable. That's really bad (even if he was making them).

Oh I know, lol, 3-10...I just meant in general, even if he were like 7/10 it's still too many shots in 12 minutes. Dude thinks he is Lou Williams or Jordan Clarkson out there.:spin

I don't understand sticking with belinelli. Him making shots isn't going to open up a lead. Even when he was making them it wasn't much of a difference maker. He gives up just as much on defense. But now he isn't even making shots at all. His cutting is almost non existent. His impact as a player is probably done.

On a side note Tre Young is a pain in the ass to guard especially off of screens. He looks a lot like a Curry clone out there.

Not really. DWhite shut him down last year. Dejounte was shutting him down the 1st half tonight. The Spurs literally have the two best Trae defenders in the league on the roster.
They were just sitting on the bench watching Patty give up 8 points to him in about a minute.

How many consecutive losses would it take for Pop to get over himself?
A nice losing streak here might actually help in the long run

He’s got a lot of Harden in him. Dribbles into you, play tough defense, he flops, it’s a foul. Go out of your way to show the refs you’re not fouling, he scores easily.

Can't expect a team with a first year pg coming of an injury essentially missing one year of development, to be anything other than a fringe playoff team and if LMA has indeed regressed we're not even that. Pop as a POBO has failed miserably but uncle d was a big reason why.

the only way for pop to be held accountable for anything would be if the spurs had new ownership...
The Holts own 40% of the Spurs. They'd be the ones to hold PATFO accountable but, because of the divorce, the Holt children are running things now. Their inexperience means they're leaning pretty heavily on Pop and Buford. RC was already named CEO of the Spurs this summer. This means Pop has more power than ever before.

Well, if our center could put up a real fucking hard screen and not that fake screen Aldridge puts in, that could make Murray's job easier.
And u know owners he puts up that weak screen because he wants the ball... Murray defers too much to DDR and LMA... and their games don't mesh well because LMA doesn't pass, and DDR clogs the lane and doesn't move off the ball

agreed. I losing streak this early might help give the the front office a little push to realize a DeMar/LMA led team isn’t going anywhere....even to the playoffs

It would take a major 10 game losing streak for Pop to even CONSIDER THINKING about change. It would take hitting the lottery for him to ADMIT things should probably change.
But I don't think there's much that would make him deconstruct the team and rebuild some semblance of a modern offense. He doesn't care that much anymore.

a losing streak won't change anything for a coach who trots out the same line up that gave up a 30 Point lead in a Playoff game

Could watch the game live, but this was the perfect opportunity for the team to lay an egg:
- Too many "shooters" or scorers slumping at the same time. Beli, Forbes, Aldridge and Lyles are all on an offensive slump to start the season. I'll start really becoming concerned it it continues past 20 games.
- Once again, giving an undeserving veteran too long of a leash, too big of a role or too many minutes. This has been a trope of Pop's since the 2000's, but with Beli/Forbes slumping and Patty being who is maybe he'll be FORCED to make changes......
- Taking a young, more athletic team for granted (as they are prone to do), letting them stay in the game late and having a gunner (Young) catch fire is a Pop Era Spurs specialty.
- Walker either being in a funk or the quick leash effecting his play sucks because the team could use a young, athletic and most important confidant player in the rotation, I think Belinelli is done, TBH, but Pop won't make a permanent move unless Walker can start making a positive impact (ala Stephen Jackson in '03 or Kawhi in '11).
