He's listed as playing for the Spurs in today's RMR game.

Recap (http://www.nba.com/jazz/Revue/03rrmrday5.html#game3)
Box Score (http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/sauta13.pdf)

Probably available now that most of the Memphis money is tied up in the Posey offer.

I see Devin Brown is not listed today. Did they take him off the roster? Also, are we being mean to Donny Marshall to get back at Kidd? :lol

As an aside it will be interesting to see how Raul Lopez performs. Supposedly the Jazz thought that he will end up being a better point than Parker.

Devin either hasn't made it out there or has proven himself enough to not play further.

Screw Donny, he probably already has a contract thanks to Kidd.

Mike Batiste is a SOLID player.

Kori agreed with me back in March that the Spurs should sign him this offseason.

I like this player and hopefully they hang onto him.

Terrence Morris played Center?:lol :lol

Vladi is pretty quiet so far...

From what I've heard the Spurs want DBrown.

Brown supposedly came to terms with SA it looks like.

My summer sleeper Bogojevic looks like he had a good game. Bettered Raul Lopez's statline in less minutes (4 assists, 5 boards running the point).

Only 12 minutes for the Yugoslav product, are Pop and RC trying to keep him under cover?

We'll know FOR SURE tomorrow if Speedy is gone. Then maybe Bogojevic is the next signing. Would he sign for the minimum?

jr

Cassius Clay
07-23-2003, 02:49 AM
I would suspect that Boykins would be the next signing.

grjr
07-23-2003, 02:56 AM
Cassius, wouldn't we have to pay Boykins speedy-type money to get him? Wouldn't that screw your plan for paying Manu next year?

jr

Cassius Clay
07-23-2003, 02:59 AM
No. Boykins would come cheaply unless Golden State opens up their coffers. I'm thinking one year $2 mil at most.

Do we have any serious interest in AJ Guyton or Eddie Gill?

I'm not sure is Batiste is something to get too excited about. Do we need another developing 6-8 guy?

Batiste is worth giving a roster spot believe me.

Watched him put up 20 and 10 on the lakers a couple times.

Kori will put in her nickel on this guy.

This guy IS an emerging talent IMO.

Summer league interests:

Bogojevic (my PG sleeper signee)
Okulaja (finally free from Spanish team deal)
Batiste (why not...)
Devin (done deal)

Batiste had some good games last season.

Worth a look I would think.

Cassius Clay
07-23-2003, 03:11 AM
Well Memphis will be signing Posey to an offer sheet today so Batiste must be on his way out. Couldn't hurt the Spurs to look to add some more diamonds in the rough.

grjr

So the person who played in place of $8 million man Arenas in the 4th quarters could be had for $2 million? I guess that would be a good deal then.

Such is the NBA. One day Tony P will have a rather fat deal too.

Sign Batiste..this guy is going to be a very good NBA player..You heard it here first..(or maybe second)

WriterNum934
07-23-2003, 03:17 AM
Say NOOO to Boykins.

Sure he's a little devil on offense but the guy couldn't defend the 6-7 inch taller points in the NBA.

Next we can have Manu guard Shaq.

:rolleyes

Cassius Clay

As I understand it, the Spurs would run Boykins and Ginobili some at point in relief of Parker. Speedy doesn't exactly have to duck whenever he enters a room.

get off it.

He played GREAT D

hell he replaced Arenas cause Boykin's D was MUCH better.

GOod outside shooter, great transition player,
aggressive, somehow gets to the hole alot.

Good player Boykins IS.

Loose the hate tool.

Boykins is going to be an All-Star? Keep on Smokin' Cheech.

Oh and West wanted Gordan too. But then ended up trading him for Mike "Future HoF and 10 Time Champ" Miller.

MANU, christ man read your own paragraphs.

Tpark is right that I like Mike Batiste.

But he signed a qualifying offer with the Grizz today and the Spurs roster is getting crowded at the 2/3, so I don't know if I see him joining the Spurs.

Rasho/Willis
Tim/Malik/Horry
Bowen/Jack
Manu/Devin/Kerr
Tony/Backup Point

That's the active roster right there. I don't think Batiste would join us to sit on IR.

ChumpDumper
07-23-2003, 05:33 AM
I think Mike just wanted a forum to showcase his skills and drive up his price and/or get an offer from another team. The Spurs definitely had a spot open since Brown doesn't need to waste any more SL time and Kidd's friend whatshisnuts probably already has a contract from NJ.

Rasho/Willis
Tim/Malik/Horry
Bowen/Jack
Manu/Devin/Kerr
Tony/Backup Point

Why is Devin Brown a Backup shooting guard?

Rasho 30mpg / Rose 18mpg / Willis (Situational) = 48 Minutes
Duncan 38mpg / Rose 6mpg / Horry 4mpg = 48 Minutes
Bowen 28mpg / Jackson 14mpg / Horry 6mpg = 48 Minutes
Jackson 18mpg / Ginobili 30mpg / Brown (Situational) = 48 Minutes
Parker 35mpg / FA PG 13mpg / Ginobili Situational = 48 Minutes

Rasho - 30mpg
Duncan - 38mpg
Bowen - 28mpg
Jackson - 32mpg
Parker - 35mpg
Ginobili - 30mpg
Rose - 24mpg
FA PG - 13mpg
Horry - 10mpg
Willis/Brown Situational

That's 9 Deep, 10 for the reg season.

Because Stephen's agent is a dickhead.

But he signed a qualifying offer with the Grizz today and the Spurs roster is getting crowded at the 2/3, so I don't know if I see him joining the Spurs. If Batiste signed his qualifying offer then he's locked in Memphis for the next year and cannot be traded so we definitely won't see him on the Spurs next year.

Does anyone (Chump, base, etc.) know if Batiste is automatically unrestricted next summer? Normally that's the point of signing a Q.O., but since this will only be Batiste's second year, and the CBA says that players who enterred the league after 1998-99 and have played three or fewer seasons can be made restricted, I'm unclear on the point.

My understanding is he would be unrestricted, but I'm not 100%. For some reason, Lee Nailon was being listed as restricted by the Knicks on the NBA site when he actually took the QO from the Hornets last summer. Now he's listed as unrestricted.

I was just listing the players. I wasn't insinuating at Jack won't see any time at SG. If he is in a Spurs uni, then of course he will.

This is what I read ...

Grizzlies make qualifying offer to F Batiste
SportsTicker
Jun. 27, 2003 7:00 p.m.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Memphis Grizzlies on Friday made a qualifying offer to forward Mike Batiste.

The move makes Batiste a restricted free agent, but the Grizzlies would have 15 days to match any offer he receives from another team.

Jun. 27, 2003Wait, you said Batiste signed a qualifying offer from Memphis yesterday, but that article is from a month ago. The Grizzlies had to give Batiste a QO by June 30 to make him restricted, but as long as he hasn't signed the QO he's still on the market as a restricted FA.

KoriEllis
07-23-2003, 06:18 PM
That's why I posted that Genghis.

I had read that Batiste had signed an offer yesterday on another forum. But when I researched, the only thing I found was in June. That's why I post it here, to show my initial statement (about him signing yesterday) was incorrect.

Chump, the Hornets waived Nailon before the season started and he signed with the Knicks.

Hmm. . .that would be quite a feat considering that his career high is 18 points against San Antonio.

He did go for 15 pts, 11 boards one night against LA though. . .the LA Clippers.

You're probably right, Chump. I don't remember all of the circumstances either.
