Lot of traffic in that area already (at least going west on IH-10)....

Article also touches on the fact the Spurs might be looking to relocate but the city is trying to give them tax incentives to stay.

What?

The incentives are for the Practice Facility and the cost to SAWS and CPS for infrastructure and the article doesn't explicitly say tax incentives for the spurs to stay.

However anytime a Billionaire Owner goes to the politicians for perks its a shakedown with a threat to "keep the team" in the city/county.

Was in the news4 article I read on the same subject this morning, just assumed it was the same article.

Thanks for posting that. I couldn't read the other without turning off my ad blocker.

LOL. I read "Northwest side" and wondered why they would do that, just because of travel time for the players. It would be at 10 and LaCantera. And combining it with UT HSC sports medicine gives it a different dynamic too.

Kind of hoping that the next spurs arena will be built somewhat close to that area.

Thanks for sharing. The writer of the article though is reaching imo. Different circumstances back when The AT&T Center was built.

thank u front office its the logical move & it has been for decades why handicap yourself in san antonio when there is a city 1 hour away that every free agent will want to play/live in..........san antonio fans dont even show up to games so might as well make the move to AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN......... cant wait

13 years 20 million a year in profit(my guess about the average) and an increase in equity of 1.2 BILLION and they still have to shake down the taxpayer.

At least finally they are doing something with the research component , UTSA, and UT Health Science Center that may increase JOBS and bump up Fat Antonio's lack of Advanced degrees.

This is over a dominant span rarely seen in Sports, let alone at a place like SA. If the teams sucks and its fan's passions wanes, the profits would quickly turn to losses.

As a kid, you think do whatever is takes to keep my team here.

As an adult, you think man raise your own damn money to build a new arena and stop trying to hold the city hostage. Leave if you have to.

Hope the Spurs don't try to load management their way out of S.A.

Building ATT in the hood instead of up near the northern stretch of 1604 was a classic SA dumbass move. It's really going to hurt the team too, now that we're finally truly shitty.

Clippers Sold for 2 Billion, any open sale of any NBA franchise TODAY would net way more. Losses? What Losses? The Holt's initial investment into the team was 10's of millions even if over the years of buying up partners they put in 200 million more (They own over 40% of the team) that.s a heck of an ROI

Sure if you want to back track all the way to when they bought the company you can but most if not all business owners will try to capitalize on what they have now. If the Spurs started losing, their operating income would turn in to Operating Losses and it would hit their valuation/market price in the tens of hundreds of millions possibly.

Yes, this was not a good call. Obviously they did it for money (cheaper deal) but still dumb for the long term

there are always a few panhandlers over near the RIM at the intersection of I-10. I remember it beings lot worse in Austin when I lived there.
