I’ve never agreed with this mindset. Just because someone was good, or great, or even the best at one point in the past doesn’t give them the right to destroy the team, the fan base and the franchise indefinitely.

yes you give them a longer leash when their performance drastically drops but you also speak bluntly with them about where the current path is headed if changes in personnel or philosophy aren’t made. Most normal coaches don’t want to go out in a bad way and will work with the team to have a good transition. Does pop want to go out like bob stoops or joe paterno?

If the post-Duncan pop era had that kind of success then it would show to me that pop is his own man and a great coach. But he’s not off to a good start and the longer he stays the more it blurs his legacy. More and more folks will wonder how much of it was him vs Duncan

I don't agree with all decisions and current allocation of playing time, but the front office seemed to be doing quite well post Duncan despite draft position, ect, until nephew's turned ankle against GS in the playoffs and then his sitting out the next year and consequently destroying his trade value. The Morris sham didn't help either.
